Being adjacent to the University of Colorado Boulder campus allows the existing building structure to stay cur- rent, but the exterior looks visually dated and in need of renovation. The design goal is to revitalize the good bones of the building, and celebrate the beautiful natural stone that already exists. By re-visioning important architectural moves, utilizing premium building prod- ucts and incorporating top-of-the-line lighting techniques, the building will incorpo- rate new entry features and get a beautiful face-lift while maintaining the timeless look with modern elegance. PROJECT OF THE WEEK • CONSTRUCTION Himmelman begins construction on Journey Church Worship Facility H immelman Construction Inc. recently broke ground on Journey Church in Castle Pines. Site development began in early September with a 10-month construction schedule. Facility development and strategic planning exper- tise is being provided by Church Facility Solutions LLC, a church real estate and facility development services firm headquartered in Denver. Design services are being provided by Denver-based Lee Architects & Interior Designers. This 14,250-square-foot, two-story plus mezzanine religious facility will include a 348-seat worship auditorium on the main level, as well as a lobby, restrooms and refreshment area. The lower level will include six youth classrooms, a nursery, toddler room, and multiple gathering and youth rooms. The project also includes a 160-space parking lot, and over 12 acres of site development valued at $1.7 million. The split level structure will be steel erected with an exterior face that will include metal, stucco and stone. PROJECT OF THE WEEK • CONSTRUCTION Brinkmann Constructors breaks ground on Limelight Healthcare Center B rinkmann Constructors and Partnering with Physicians broke ground on the physician-owned Limelight Healthcare Center in Castle Rock. The two-story medical office building offers physician practices and pa- tients direct access to the specialized services of the Castle Rock Adventist Health Campus, located in the prestigious master-planned community The Meadows at Historic Castle Rock. The 21,298-square-foot medical office building was designed by Davis Partnership Architects and adds essential outpatient services to this rapidly growing region. PROJECT OF THE WEEK • ARCHITECTURE Lantz-Boggio completes next-gen high school design for Laramie L antz-Boggio Architects designed the new Laramie High School. The 300,000-square-foot, newly constructed facility incorporates best practices and innovative design solutions for next-generation learning environments. The building is situated on approximately 36 acres. Classrooms include 12 science labs, three music rooms, two art labs and seven production labs. Amenities on the campus include an impressive stadium and practice field, both with synthetic turf. Students and the community can pursue other athletic and cul- tural endeavors utilizing the five tennis courts, two full gymnasiums and a three- tiered auditorium with reclaimed wood wall accents. There is a competitive swim- ming and diving pool with 3- and 5-meter high dive platforms, a large commons area with 25-foot ceilings and views of the nearby Snowy Range Mountains.
