What is DRP-JOINT?

Dual Ring Press Joint (DRP-JOINT) is a collective term that includes SR- JOINT, AB-JOINT, SM-JOINT, CS-JOINT, CP-JOINT, and CN-JOINT, which

are differentiated by materials used to make their metal rings. DRP-JOINT

uses 360° circular pressing method to compress two rings, which consists of rubber ring and metal ring. The outstanding performance of the circular

pressing method has been proven through tensile test and pressure-proof test, leading DRP-JOINT to be used in building, ship, drill ship and generation plant constructions and other fields for several years. Having been used in building

construction sector for more than 20 years, and for over 8 years in the vessel sector starting from the first Aegis Destroyer of Korean Navy, DRP-

JOINT has received high recognition from customers.

• Number of total vibration : 500,000 times

(Tested on SM JOINT 15A)

SAFE FOR GROUND SUBSIDENCE

DRP-JOINT passed the test for approval of tensile force of 15A 800kgf/㎠, 100A 6,000kgf/㎠

under the condition of fluid pressure 25kgf/㎠ which are designed specification. Test result shows that there is no fluid leakage when being bent up to 22.28 degrees. It means DRP-

JOINT ensures safety against ground subsidence and/or earthquake.

DRP JOINT CHARACTERISTICS

1. Environment-friendly Products

• Instead of welding, which has negative impact on the environment, DRP- JOINT uses an environmental-friendly pressing tool for installation.

2. Convenient A/S

• Easy and quick repair is possible without skilled technician and welding equipment. It is easy to repair during sai ling.

3. Easy Installation Process

• Installation does not require experienced workers. It takes 10 seconds to press 15A and 1 minute for 100A.

4. Robustness

• Circular pressing of metal ring allows DRP-JOINT to maintain the same pressure even after 360° rotation.

• DRP-JOINT has superior internal and external tension, compared to flange welding and pipe welding.

5. Safe from Vibration and Ground Subsidence

• Compared to mechanical joint that consists of a single ring (rubber ring), DRP-JOINT consists of dual rings (metal ring and rubber ring), and is therefore safe from vibration and is able to resist pressure up to 10 MPa.

• DRP-JOINT successfully passed two-million vibration tests. It also passed 22.28° bending test, which means that it is safe to bend the joint up to 22.

• While flange joint made with nonferrous metals (i.e. copper or stainless

steel flange) easily cracks when exposed to heavy weight, DRP-JOINT does not crack.

HOW TO INSTALL DRP-JOINT TOOLS

READ FIRST

※ The burr that may be formed either side of the pipe should be removed. Internal foreign objects should be removed as well.

※ If insertion doesn't go on smoothly, soap bubbles may help.

※ When you insert the pipe, you must be careful not to

get damaged.

※ When you are doing welding, be careful not to damage the rubber ring

※ Eroded tools should be replaced. These tools may

cause corrosion of pipes.


HOW TO INSTALL DRP-JOINT

PIPE CUTTING

JOINT INSERTION

Cut the pipe vertically.

Remove burr from the pipe if cut by wheel

cutter or grinder. Damages caused by

burr during insertion may be the reason

of fluid leakage.

Pipe should be inserted linearly

into the Joint. Re-check burr on pipe and insert pipe

linearly into the joint. If insertion is not

smooth, soap bubbles may help.

PRESSING

WITH THE TOOL

Pressing using exclusive tool Compress, after inserting a joint into

grooves with pressing tool. Fit the

groove of tool and mound of joint, and

press joint using exclusive tool.

VERIFICATION

Pressing confirmation Disassemble after compression. Confirm the joint by using a vernier caliper or

checking jig. If the jig is passed smoothly

or diameter measured by vernier caliper

is same in manual, joint installation is

good.
