APPOINTMENT OF ELDERS

On November 18 and 19, Gospel Light celebrates its 30th Anniversary.

During this special period, we will also appoint two new Elders.

Presently, there are 5 Elders in Gospel Light. The original 3 Elders (Pastor Victor Yeo, Elder Leong Lick Tien and I) have served for the past 30 years and average 70 years of age.

Our Board of Elders is responsible for the spiritual direction and health of Gospel Light.

As more and more churches seek "success" by following the latest trends in "church growth," Gospel Light must remain faithful to God and His Word and continue to be a Gospel-centered church.

As we look forward to the next 30 years we need a new leadership team who will be able to do this, while at the same time meet the needs of this generation.

A year ago, the Board of Elders identified 2 men to be trained for Eldership:

Pastor Seethor Chee Keen, our Chinese pastor for the past 10 years, and Frederick Chew, a Care Group leader since 2013 and who is presently Vice-Chairman of our Church Committee. They were then trained for a year. The training included Bible studies, real-life case studies and attendance at our monthly Elders' Meetings. The Board of Elders is confident that they have satisfied the requirements for Eldership as stated in 1 Timothy 3.

Please pray for God's blessings for them, their wives, and families.

God willing, we will be appointing more Elders in the near future.

• CHRISTIAN EDUCATION WORKSHOP – GOD AND SCIENCE People have said that Science has shown that the Bible is not true. Alternatively, people have said Faith and Science are entirely 2 different subjects altogether. However, what people have failed to see is the Bible in fact is a very remarkable book. Where the Bible has touched on Science, it has revealed information well ahead of scientific knowledge and discoveries, thereby revealing the Bible is the revelation of God who is the Creator of this universe. No registration is required for this workshop.
