GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: Sherwood shelving is a modularstarter/adder design which allows for easy reconfiguration.

END PANEL: The end panels shall be constructed of 1" thickmulti-ply veneer core for excellent dimensional stability. Theface veneers shall be Grade "A" quality. Single faced end pan-els up to 60" high shall be banded on the bottom, top andfront vertical edge with 1/4" solid hardwood. Single faced endpanels more than 60" high shall be banded on the bottom edgeand the front vertical edge with 1/8" solid hardwood. Doublefaced end panels up to 60" high shall be banded on all foursides with 1/4" thick solid hardwood. Double faced end panelsmore than 60" high shall be banded on the bottom and bothvertical edges. All solid hardwood edges shall be eased. Theinside faces of the end panels shall have two rows of holesbored to accept the shelf pins. The holes shall be 32 mm oncenter. The bottom and top of the end panels shall be fittedwith threaded inserts for metal to metal assembly of the baseand cornice top. The end panels shall be grooved to accept the1/4" thick back panel.

INTERMEDIATE PANEL: The intermediate panels shall be con-structed of 1" thick multi-ply veneer core for excellent dimen-sional stability. The face veneers shall be Grade "A" quality.Single faced intermediate panels up to 60" high shall be band-ed on the bottom, top and front vertical edge with 1/4" solidhardwood. Single faced intermediate panels more than 60"high shall be banded on the bottom edge and the front verticaledge with 1/4" solid hardwood. Double faced end panels up to60" high shall be banded on all four sides with 1/4" thick solidhardwood. Double faced end panels more than 60" high shallbe banded on the bottom and both vertical edges. All solidhardwood edges shall be eased. The inside faces of the endpanels shall have two rows of holes bored to accept the shelfpins. The holes shall be 32 mm on center. The bottom andtop of the end panels shall have through holes for attachmentof tops and bases by means of 1/4" bolts, nuts and washers.The intermediate panels shall be grooved to accept the 1/4"back panel.

CORNICE TOP: The cornice top shall be constructed of 1"thick multi-ply veneer core with Grade "A" face veneers. Thefront edge shall receive a 3/4" thick x 1 1/2" high fascia. The fas-cia shall be recessed 1/8" from the front edge and attached tothe top by means of three (3) #10 x 2" flat head wood screws.The cornice top shall be attached to the vertical panels bymeans of four (4) 1/4" steel bolts threading into the embeddedmetal inserts.

SHELVING BASE: The base frame shall be constructed of 3/4"thick plywood core. The base front shall be faced with Grade"A" veneer. The four sides of the base shall be attached bymeans of metal corner brackets and wood screws forming aframe. The base shelf shall be 1" thick plywood core withGrade "A" face veneer. The leading edge of the shelf shall bebanded with a 1/4" thick solid hardwood band. The base shelfshall be attached to the base frame by means of a 1 1/2" long#8 wood screw for added structural stability.

SpecificationsSTANDARD ADJUSTABLE SHELF: The adjustable shelvesshall be 3/4" glued up hardwoods of the same specie front toback. The front edge shall be eased. The underside shall berouted to accept the shelf pins.

STANDARD MAGAZINE SHELF: The magazine shelves shallbe constructed of 3/4" veneer core with Grade "A" face veneers.The bottom edge shall be solid hardwood shaped to provide aretainer to allow display of the periodicals. The shelves shallbe able to retract into the shelving unit and stay in place inthis position without having to be held for easy access to backissues. When the shelf is in the display position, it shall restagainst the standard adjustable shelf.

STANDARD PICTURE BOOK SHELF: 5 dividers per shelf.

OPTIONAL METAL SHELF: The optional adjustable metal shelfshall be 18 gauge steel. The shelf shall be 3/4" high with thefront and rear edges being square formed. The ends of theshelves shall be notched to accept the shelf pins. The shelvesshall be electrostatically painted.

STANDARD BACK PANEL: The standard back panels shall be1/4" thick with a vertical grade laminate face.

OPTIONAL VENEER BACK PANEL: The optional veneer backpanel shall be 1/4" thick plywood with rotary cut face veneer onexposed face(s).

OPTIONAL CONTINUOUS TOPS: Continuous tops are avail-able for all shelving units. The catalog numbers must bespecified to indicate this selection. All tops are 1 3/16" thick.

OPTIONAL MOBILE BASE: The optional mobile base is avail-able on the double faced shelving units. It shall be construct-ed of 16 gauge steel and shall be welded to form a structuralframe. The swivel casters shall be bolted to the frame, whichis attached to the underside of the shelving unit.

CORNER FILLERS: The corner fillers shall be constructed ofplywood core with a Grade "A" veneer face. Solid hardwoodcleats shall be provided for attachment to the shelving and thewall. The depth and width is to be specified at time of pur-chase order.

FACE FILLERS: The face fillers shall be constructed of ply-wood core with a Grade "A" veneer face. Solid hardwoodcleats shall be provided for attachment to the shelving and thewall. The height and width is to be specified at time of pur-chase order.
