MINISTER’S NOTES
GROWING SPIRITUALLY Following are five things you can do to foster your own spiritual growth: 1. Make Friends within the Church We have to be in the world to win the world. However, we tend to become like those we associate with most. “Birds of a
feather flock together.” “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.” It’s hard to keep from being influenced by those closest to us. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says: “Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” Of course, the opposite is also true. Good company encourages good character. 2. Read the Bible Daily If you eat physical food only once a week, you will eventually become malnourished and die. There’s a parallel between physical and spiritual food. Deny yourself the word of God and you’ll shrivel up spiritually. Consume the Word and you’ll grow. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” 3. Pray Daily Prioritize persistent, private, personal time with God. Ephesians 6:18 says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” Prayer is one of the best ways to defend yourself against the devil. 4. Worship Regularly Worship helps us become more like God because we become like what we worship. Hebrews 10:24-25 says worship is a great opportunity to give and receive spiritual encouragement. 5. Share Your Faith When you share your faith with others, you inevitably boost and bolster your own faith. Paul told Philemon in v6 of his letter: “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”
WORK DAY—OCTOBER 25 In order to improve the safety and appearance of our campus and to help us prepare for Trunk-or-Treat (October 31) and “Invite Your One” Day (November 11), we have scheduled a Men’s Work Day at the building Thursday morning, October 25 starting at 9 o’clock. Work includes: Bush Pruning, Leaf-Raking, Tree-Trimming, and general Grounds Cleaning.
