UNICEF SHEP PROGRAMME• Activities agreed with GES-SHEP during annual

reviews• Support is at all levels – National, Regional, District,

School• School Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project

Covers 4 districts in NR and 2 Districts in UER Northern Region support has now been extended to 9

districts

• HIV/AIDS Alert School Project Targets five Regions –CR, ER, NR, UWR So far 3 Regions have been covered – ER, UER, UWR Involves teachers and students in Schools

• Implemented so far in JSS and Primary Schools in ER, UER, UWR

• All teachers trained in the integrated HIV and AIDS Curriculum

• Teachers teach children using subject areas

CHILD-LED PILLAR

• Implemented so far only in JSS Schools in ER, UER, UWR

• Youth clubs formed in all the schools with School Health Teacher as patron

• Peer education training completed in all schools

• School health teachers trained together with children

• Pupils organise education sessions among themselves

SCHOOL COMMUNITY PILLAR

• Aims at educating SMCs and PTAs during their meetings

• External facilitators will provide HIV/AIDS information and services

• A manual will be used for community education

• Currently manual being reviewed for printing
