Anglian Water upgrades Zickert sludge collection tanks at UK water recycling centre

Anglian Water has refurbished ten sludge collection tanks at its Pyewipe Water Recycling Centre (WRC) in Grimsby, UK, replacing existing Zickert sludge scraping equipment with new and upgraded equipment from Hydro International.

“The original equipment was installed in the late 1990s as it was ideal for the size and shape of the tanks,” explained Anglian Water project manager Sean Rennie. “After nearly 16

years’ service, we decided that a complete overhaul of the system was needed to avoid unnecessary plant downtime.”

The bottom scraper mechanisms, wear plates and screw drives in all of the tanks were replaced and strengthened. The top scum scrapers in the final settled sludge tanks did not require replacement.

Shell Canada selects ProSep for Carmon Creek project

Porvair completes South Korean hot gas filtration contract

Oil, gas and water process separation specialist ProSep Inc is to design and package 12 large oil treatment vessels for Shell Canada’s Carmon Creek heavy oil development in Northern Alberta.

The equipment, which will be designed and partly fabricated by ProSep, includes degassers, production separators, production treaters and slop oil treaters.

ProSep, which has recently invested in new facilities in Houston, will deliver the contract in phases over the next two years. The packaged units will be delivered as they are completed.

Neil Poxon, CEO of ProSep, said: “This is the largest contract award in the company’s history and reinforces the great start we have made to 2014.”

Porvair Filtration Group has successfully delivered POSCO Energy’s char filter contract at the Gwangyang steel plant in South Korea.

The US$10 million–15 million agreement with POSCO E&C to supply char filtration equipment for the project at the Gwangyang facility was signed in November 2011.

The synthetic natural gas (SNG) project should produce

500 000 tons of SNG with coal annually.

Donaldson invests in Slovakia with new distribution centreDonaldson Co Inc has set up a distribution centre in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The new 5300 sq m facility will support the growing demand for the company’s replacement filters from customers in Central, East and South East Europe and Russia. Donaldson will begin shipping out of its new Bratislava distribution centre in November.

“This new distribution centre represents a significant

investment in our future growth plans and our continued success of supporting our global customers locally,” said Tod Carpenter, Donaldson’s chief operating officer.

“We are confident that our customers will significantly benefit from this investment and our ongoing commitment to providing value-added filtration products.”
