You have found a genie in a bottle. The genie has agreed to grant you one wish to help

those in Hong Kong. What is a major issue in Hong Kong that needs to be fixed? How

would you use your wish to help solve this problem? -Asia Children Education Association

Hong Kong people do not have enough time to sleep. The children have lots of homework to do every day and the adults have to work for long hours to earn a living. I would tell the genie that we were always lack of sleep, feeling tired and even exhausted.

‘Hey genie, I wish that people in Hong Kong can have a great sleep!’ I shouted. ‘Ahh, what a great sleep! My wish becomes true!’ I laughed loudly. But when I looked around, I didn’t know where I was. All the buildings were old and dusty. There are bougainvillea climbing and growing along the grounds and around the buildings. Grasses covered all over the roads and streets. Thorny brushes were along the highways. ‘Oh, what happened?’ I was shocked. ‘It’s a great sleep, isn’t it?’ the genie appeared suddenly. ‘You and all the Hong Kong people have been slept for a hundred year. You are the first one to wake up. Do you want to sleep again?’ the genie asked cunningly. I couldn’t believe what had happened!

The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf

Xia Tianyu, Rain (6A)

Once upon a time, there was a village in which lived a shepherd boy. He

took a flock of sheep to the mountain every day.

One day, the shepherd boy was bored. ‘I’m so bored. What can I do to

have some fun?’ asked the shepherd boy. After ten seconds, he said, ‘Ah! I

know what to do.’ He decided to play some tricks on the villagers. ‘Wolf!

Wolf! A big bad wolf! Please help!’ the shepherd boy shouted. When the

villagers heard the cry of wolf, they all ran to the pasture to help the shepherd boy.

When they came to the mountain, there was only a boy. ‘Ha! Ha! Ha! There’s

no wolf. It’s just a trick!’ said the shepherd boy. The fooled villagers were

mad and went down from the pasture. They said angrily, ‘What a wicked boy!’

The next day, the shepherd boy felt bored

again. He wanted to trick the villagers again.

‘Wolf! Wolf! A real hungry wolf! Help!

Help!’ shouted the shepherd boy. The

villagers came to the mountain and asked,

‘Where’s the wolf, boy?’ ‘Ha! Ha! Ha!

There’s no wolf! How foolish you are!’

the shepherd boy laughed at the villagers.

When they found out that the shepherd boy had lied again, they were very upset.

They said, ‘We will not believe you anymore!’ Instead of feeling ashamed, the

shepherd boy kept on laughing.

After some days, a bad wolf came. The shepherd boy cried, ‘Help! The

wolf came! It wants to eat all my sheep!’ As expected, no one helped the boy.

The villagers thought, ‘The boy still lies to us.’ The wolf caught all the sheep

and said, ‘Wow! A lot of delicious food. Yummy!’ The boy said sadly,

‘Please help. The wolf is eating my sheep. The wolf…Oh no! All my sheep

have been eaten by the wolf.’

In the end, the shepherd boy felt very sad and cried. The moral of the story

is we should not tell lies. Otherwise, no one will trust you.

A Diary: A Charitable Event

Man Wai Lok, Max (6A)

25th May,2018 Friday Sunny and hot

Today, I joined an event called ‘Flag Selling Day’. I joined it with my

parents. The event took place in Sheung Shui. We were happy because we

were going to do something meaningful.

First, we took the flag bag and the flags. Then, we went to the MTR station

where we sold flags. At the first thirty minutes, nobody came to buy the flags.

I thought it was meaningless. But Mum told me to be patient, so I waited

patiently.

After a while, more and more people were on the street. Also, more people

bought the flags. I was happy that I met so many kind and generous people.

Finally, we went back to the place where I took the items and gave them back

to the staffs of the Community Chest. I was tired but satisfied because I could

help the people in need. There is a saying: Helping others is the foundation of

happiness. I will join more meaningful events in the future.

Apple Red

Yim Nga See, Alice (6A)

Once upon a time, there was a big beautiful Kingdom in which lived a king

and a queen. After the queen gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl, the king and the

queen were excited.

The gorgeous baby girl was called Apple Red. She was very beautiful.

Her eyes were shiny like stars.

After many years, Apple Red turned into an attractive girl. Everyone liked

her very much. One day, a witch asked the magic mirror a question. ‘Mirror,

Mirror, who is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom?’

‘It’s Apple Red who lives in the Kingdom,’ the magic

mirror said. The witch was jealous of Apple Red’s beauty.

So, the witch gave a poisoned apple to Apple Red. ‘It’s a

yummy apple. I’m certain that you have never tried

something like this before,’ the witch said. Apple Red ate

the apple. Then she died.

The king and the queen were shocked and upset to see their daughter had died.

Luckily, Cinderella used her magic wand to save Apple Red. Apple Red woke

up because their friendship broke the spell. In the end, they lived happily ever

after.

A Myth about a Young Man

Chik Ki Lok, Thomas (6A)

Once upon a time, there was a woodcutter called Wu Kang. He was as

strong as an ox. He was very lazy, he did not work, he just slept under a tree on

the mountain. He wanted to find the ways to live forever.

One day, Wu Kang ran into a magician. He could help Wu Kang live

forever. Wu Kang was as happy as a king. He asked the magician, ‘You can

help me live forever, is that true? How can I live forever?’ ‘Yes, I can help

you live forever. But, you need to obey my rules,’ replied the magician. ‘What

are the rules?’ asked Wu Kang. ‘You need to do housework and find food for

me,’ said the magician.

Although Wu Kang promised the magician, he was lazy, he

did not keep his promise. The magician was angry and scolded

Wu Kang. ‘You did not keep your promise. You’re

dishonest. I’ll send you to the moon. If you chop down the

big tree on the moon, I’ll let you come back.’

After that, Wu Kang started chopping the big tree. He chopped hard but the

tree did not fall down. He has been cutting the tree until now. He has learnt a

big lesson. He would not be lazy and dishonest.

Peach Pink

Guan Tsz Ip, Aiden (6A)

Once upon a time, there was a big and beautiful kingdom in

which lived a king and a queen. One day, the queen gave birth to a

lovely baby girl. The king and the queen were overjoyed.

The baby girl was called Peach Pink. Her eyes were big and shiny, her face

was pink. Everyone in the kingdom liked her very much.

However, there was an evil witch. She was jealous of Peach Pink’s beauty.

One day, the witch made a poisoned apple and met Peach Pink. ‘Take this

delicious apple. I’m certain that you’ve never tried something like it before,’

said the witch. Peach Pink ate the apple. Suddenly, she became weaker and

weaker and died. The king and the queen were shocked and upset to see their

daughter had died. They cried loudly in the palace.

After a few days, a man called Mario drove his odyssey spaceship and landed

in the kingdom. He knew what had happened to Peach Pink. He went to the

witch’s home and caught the witch. The king and the queen were delighted.

They asked the witch to break the magic spell. Then Peach Pink awoke.

In the end, Mario left the kingdom because he wanted to visit more places in

the world. Peach Pink missed him forever.

Taking Care of My Grandpa’s Dog

Zhang Yun Tung, Jacob (6B)

Last week, my Grandpa joined a three-day tour. He couldn’t take his pet to go

on the tour with him so he wanted me to look after it. Although I have never

looked after a pet before, I promised I’ll try my best to take care of it. Grandpa

said, ‘Be good, Bobo.’ Bobo wagged his tail happily.

I fed Bobo and bathed him every day. Bobo was enjoyable. We got along

very well. On the third day, I took Bobo to the park but he ran away suddenly.

‘Bobo, why are you running away? Where are you going?’ I shouted loudly like a

crazy lion. I thought, ‘If I lose Bobo, Grandpa will be very sad. I have to catch it

back.’ Therefore, I ran as quickly as I could.

I kept running until I reached Grandpa’ home. I heard a voice from Grandpa’s

home and then I looked inside. It was Bobo! I found that Bobo missed Grandpa so

much and he ran back to Grandpa’s home to find him. I thought Bobo was sad so

I tried to make some funny tricks to cheer it up. Luckily, Bobo was happy again

and he followed me to go home.

When Grandpa came back and took Bobo back, I felt a bit sad. However,

Bobo was so excited and he jumped up and down around Grandpa. Finally, I said

Goodbye to Bobo and I would visit him more often.

Fat Princess Polly

Lo Tsz Nok, Woody (6B)

A monster kept Princess Polly in a tall castle. Princess Polly wanted to get out

of the castle but she was too fat. She ate too many French fries. She felt bored

so she wanted to keep fit and leave the castle as soon as possible.

In a year’s time, Princess Polly changed her habits. She did not eat anymore

junk food like French fries or hamburgers but she ate healthy food every day. She

did exercise regularly. She insisted to do it for a year. Then, she became so thin.

She could get out of the castle through the window.

One day, she saw a monster sleeping, so she climbed down the castle by a

rope and left quietly. When Princess Polly was running away, the monster woke

up. He saw Princess Polly running away and he followed her. The monster cried,

‘No! Don’t run away from me! Come back!’ Princess Polly said, ‘Ahhhhh! I am

thin and fit. You cannot run faster than me. You can’t catch me!’ The monster felt

sad and gave up.

At that time, Princess Polly saw a woodcutter and she said, ‘Help! Please help

me. A monster was chasing me.’ However, the woodcutter was the monster’s best

friend. He caught Princess Polly and sent her back to the monster. When the

monster saw Princess Polly, he said, ‘Oh! Welcome back. You can never run

away from me. Thank you my best friend.’ He nodded to the woodcutter. The

monster took the princess back to the castle and locked her in the room. Princess

Polly was so sad. She was the poorest princess in the world.

Fat Princess Polly

Yu Siu Ting, Coco (6C)

A monster kept Princess Polly in a tall castle. Princess Polly

wanted to get out of the castle through a window but the window

was narrow. She was too fat. Princess Polly decided not to eat

French fries because a monster gave her French fries to eat five

days a week.

Then, Princess Polly decided to change habits. She ate healthier food. She

begged the monster every day to give her vegetables and fruit to eat. She did not

eat French fries. She ate healthier food and did more exercise. Three weeks

later, Princess Polly was fit. After that, Princess Polly took a rope to get out of

the window. She left the tall castle. She found the monster was sleeping, so

she left quickly and quietly. She was very scared. Suddenly, the monster woke

up, Princess Polly went away. The monster ran after Princess Polly but she was

fast.

In the end, the monster did not catch Princess Polly. Princess Polly went

home and lived happily ever after.

Feeling Sick

Yip Chiu Hei, Kelvin (6C)

Dear Eric,

How is school today? I was absent from school this morning. I had a fever

and a runny nose. I did not feel well. So my mother took me to see the doctor,

she was also very worried.

When we arrived the clinic, I saw many patients.

One person kept coughing, another girl had a stomachache,

she was sad. I waited for an hour in the clinic because

there were many people. I waited impatiently. An hour

later, I could see the doctor. When the doctor saw me, he

checked my body temperature with a thermometer. My

body temperature was 39℃. I was scared. The doctor said, ‘You must take

medicine on time and take more rest.’ I said ‘Okay!’

I stayed at home for three days. Three days later, I recovered because my

mother took care of me every day when I was sick. I thanked my mother very

much.

Please let me know what homework I need to do. Take care too.

Love,

Tony

A Lovely Girl

Mak Yen Yui, Mark (6D)

Many years ago, there were a king and a queen. They lived in a very big

palace. They gave birth to a lovely baby girl. The baby girl called Snow White.

They were happy.

When Snow White grew up, she became beautiful.

One day, a witch gave a poisoned apple to Snow White because the witch

was jealous of her beauty.

Then, Snow White ate the poisoned apple. Snow White slept for a long time.

The king and the queen were very scared.

Planning for a Fun Fair

Chan Tsz Tung, Vivian (5A)

To: [email protected]

From: [email protected]

Subject: The Fun Fair

Dear Miss Wan,

I am writing to tell you our planning for the fun fair. We want to hold a fun fair

in order to raise money to fund our school library with more books. Our aim is

to raise one hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars, enough to provide the library

with a sufficient range of books. We want to hold the fun fair on Saturday

afternoon, so that more people will be able to attend after work.

We want to hold the fun fair at the school playground, so that we

can set up more booths there. We want to incorporate a lucky

draw and a magic show, as part of the entertainment at the fun fair.

One of our goal is to invite a pop singer to perform on the stage at

the fun fair. Selling food and drinks can also help us to raise more

money. We will also encourage pupils to donate any old books or unwanted

toys to us, so that an auction can be held at the fair.

I hope that we can raise more money than we aim to, so that the library will have

more books for the students to read. I think the fair will be fun. Do you have

any suggestions for more fundraising activities? Please give me some feedback.

Kind Regards,

Vivian

My Collection

Candy Zhang (5A)

Dear Mary,

How are you? I like collecting things. Let me tell you about my collection.

I like collecting key rings. I have collected them for six years. I put them

in a purple box that is incredibly special to me. I like collecting keys rings

because they don’t only come in various shapes and sizes, but are also extremely

beautiful and useful.

I have around twenty key rings. I like the golden key ring the most

because it is in the shape of the iconic Eiffel Tower. I bought it in 2013

when I was on vacation in Paris. The uniqueness of the key ring was

initially the reason I began collecting key rings.

I want to collect shells next because they are very beautiful. What things do

you collect? Please write back soon.

Yours,

Candy

A Reminder about the Sai Kung Trip

Yueng Hei Yuen, Dennis (5A)

Dear Amy,

I would like to remind you that we will go to Sai Kung tomorrow for the field

trip. The rest of this email will tell you what you need to know about this trip.

We will meet at the Sha Tin Bus Terminal at half past eight

tomorrow morning. We will get to Sai Kung by bus. You

will need to bring enough water, due to the hot weather. You

will also need to bring your own lunch because the school will

not provide food for you. You need to wear a light coloured

T-shirt, a hat and a pair of sunglasses because it will be hot

and sunny tomorrow.

We will go hiking and playing ball games in the morning. After lunch, we

will take a short break and play some games as a group. We will also have an

opportunity to watch the sunset! I think tomorrow will be amazing.

However, if it rains heavily tomorrow, the trip will be cancelled and

postponed to next week. If that is the case, another email will be sent out with a

new date for the trip.

See you tomorrow.

Kind Regards,

Dennis

A Surprising Day

Zheng Yin Ki, Matthew (5A)

It was Ben’s birthday today. When he was taking a bath in the bathroom,

the telephone began to ring. He hurried out of the bathroom and rushed to

answer the phone. Coincidentally, the doorbell rang. Ben wondered why the

telephone and the doorbell would ring at the same time. He thought it was

strange, and he was confused.

As he opened the door, a puppy started sprinting into the house. He was

shocked and surprised. Suddenly, the sound of Ben’s mother and father singing

‘Happy Birthday’ filled the whole house. A smile came over Ben’s face.

‘Thank you!’ he said to his parents. They had the birthday party in

the living room. Ben was happy, as were his parents.

Suddenly, the puppy jumped onto the table and licked the cake. It

was a moment that Ben knew he would remember for the rest of his life. It was

a wonderful day for Ben.

P. 14

The Lion and the Mouse

Zhang Yubo, Derek (5A)

Once upon a time, there was a Lion and a Mouse, who both lived in a forest.

One day, the tiny, little mouse jumped up and played on the Lion’s belly.

‘Why are you so annoying?’ the Lion yelled angrily. ‘Oh! My dear Lion

King, can you spare me? I promise I will help you someday!’ the Mouse begged.

‘That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard! How can such a tiny mouse help

me? I’m big and you’re small. Luckily, I’m already full, so you’re free to go,’

said the Lion.

One day, the Lion was caught by the hunter’s trap. ‘Who can help me?’ the

Lion cried helplessly. The Mouse heard the Lion’s voice, so he immediately ran

to see what had happened. After a while, the Mouse

found the Lion. The Mouse bit the rope, and at last, the

Lion escaped quickly. ‘Thank you! You’re my best

friend now!’ said the Lion.

And ever since then, the Mouse and the Lion became best friends.

A Journal: An Unforgettable Day

Huang Hoi Sui, Peter (5A)

Sunday, 12th March Hot and cloudy

Today was a wonderful day because my little sister, Candy, was born.

I didn’t even get the chance to brush my teeth or wash my face this morning,

because I had to quickly rush to the hospital.

Minutes later, I arrived at the hospital. I first went to the reception to ask the

nurse which room my mother was in. Then, I ran to the ward in which she was

staying in. Since I was in such a rush, I forgot to knock on the door.

‘Be quiet, Candy is sleeping,’ Mom whispered. Suddenly, I

heard a loud cry from Candy, so I began to sing a song to calm her

down. It did the exact opposite, she cried louder. Then, Mom

proceeded to carry Candy in her arms, as she fed her milk and

planted a kiss on her forehead and said, ‘She’s probably just

hungry.’ Candy had immediately gone silent.

From today’s experience, I realized that my mother is amazing, and I need to

be more thankful for her. This was such an unforgettable day for me!

My Collection

Camilla Zhou (5B)

Dear Mary,

How are you? I like collecting things. Let me tell you about

my collection.

I have collected key rings since I was five. I have

collected about fifty key rings.

I put my key rings in a beautiful box at home. My oldest key ring is a shell

key ring. It was a gift from my mum for my fifth birthday. I have kept it since

that day. I have red, pink, white, gold and orange key rings. I bought them

from different countries. I have never lost them. I like collecting them because

they are my best memories. The key rings are beautiful. My favourite key ring

is my birthday gift. It has my name on it so it is unique.

I want to collect coins too because they are shiny. Do you like collecting

things? Please write soon.

Love,

Camilla

Saturday 29 November Sunny and cool

Today was a good day.

My school football team had a match with another team.

The match started at three o’clock in the afternoon. The weather was

sunny and cool. At first, I didn’t play very well but later I played better and better.

Then, I helped Peter score a goal. I passed the ball to Peter and He kicked it hard

into the goal. My team won in this game. Peter’s cousin, Gary, came to watch this

game. My coach, Mr. Lee, took us to a restaurant. We had pizza and soft drinks. I

am very tired but I am happy.

A Story about a Bad Experience in the Park

Leung Yau Kwan, Kevin (5C)

Last night after dinner, I walked with my dog, Coco. I played ball games and

jumped with her at a park. I felt tired but happy.

Suddenly, I saw a robber jump out from the bushes. He held a

knife and shouted, ‘Give me your wallet!’ I was shaking and I felt

scared. ‘Don’t kill me! I will give you my wallet,’ I shouted.

Then, my dog ran to bite the robber. He was in pain and he ran away. I felt

frightened.

A Diary

Man Lee Ying, Zoe (5D)

I went to Ocean Park with my family today. It was the day I had been

waiting for a long time.

In the morning, we got up very early. We got dressed quickly and went to

Ocean Park by bus. At Ocean Park, we watched a dolphin show in the Ocean

Theatre. The show was amazing. We took photos and drew pictures of the

dolphins. Then, we rode on the cable car. The view was beautiful. I felt

relaxed. Next, we went to watch the pandas. When I was

watching the pandas, I lost my way. I could not find my mum

and dad. I was scared. I asked the staff for help

immediately. Luckily, the staff helped me find my mum and

dad very soon. When I saw my mum and dad, I hugged them tightly.

I was so grateful to see them again. Finally, we left the Ocean Park

in the evening.

Although there was something bad had happened to me in the afternoon, I

was still happy that I could go to Ocean Park with my parents today. I hope I

can visit Ocean Park with my parents again in the near future.

The Lion and the Mouse

Ma Yu Tong, Angel (5E)

Once upon a time, a lion was sleeping in the forest when a

mouse played and jumped on the lion’s tummy. The lion

soon woke up and he wanted to swallow the mouse.

The mouse said, ‘I am sorry! Forgive me this time, and I will not forget it.

I promise to do something to you in the future.’ Then the mouse went away.

After that, the lion fell into a trap one day. The mouse passed by. He saw

the lion and bit the rope of the net. He bit and bit and the net was open. Finally,

the mouse said, ‘You can go out now.’ The lion escaped from the net.

In the end, the lion and the mouse became good friends and since then, they

lived happily together. The story teaches us to be helpful to people and they will

help you in return one day.

Today was my birthday. I invited twenty people to my home to have a party.

all sang the birthday song to me. I blew out the candles and we all ate the cake.

It was very yummy. After that, Paul suggested to play a game called ‘’. This

game was simple but fun. We all enjoyed in it.

Suddenly, they gave me a big present. When I opened it, I cried happily

because it was a basketball. I loved it so much!

In the end, I felt so happy because I got a big present. It was so

unforgettable to me. I hope I will have a birthday party like it next year.

Joey and her parents visited Hong Kong last weekend.

On Saturday morning, Joey and her parents went to The Peak. They took

photos and enjoyed the view of Hong Kong and the fresh air. They also visited

the Wax Figure Museum there.

In the afternoon, Joey and her parents saw some Tanka people who lived on

boats in Aberdeen Harbour and they had seafood in a famous floating seafood

restaurant. Mum said, ‘Joey, you eat too fast. It is not

good for your digestion!’ ‘Okay,’ Joey answered.

‘What are we going to do tomorrow?’ Joey asked. ‘We

are going to go to Hong Kong Disneyland tomorrow!’

Dad replied.

At night, Joey was sick and her parents sent her to the doctor and the doctor

said, ‘Don’t eat too much seafood because you have an allergy to seafood!’ Joey

felt sad. She said, ‘I can’t go to Hong Kong Disneyland tomorrow!’ Dad said,

‘Don’t worry. We can go to Hong Kong Disneyland next Saturday.’

Yesterday, Joyce took Alice to a food festival in Tsim Sha

Tsui. They felt excited.

They went to a food stall and Alice studied the food order

form and asked, ‘Joyce, would you like to try the pizza or the salad?’ Joyce

replied, ‘I’d like to try the pizza, please.’ Alice said, ‘I’d like to try the salad.

I’d also like to try the cola. How about you, Joyce?’ Joyce answered, ‘I’d like

some cola too because I like sweet drinks.’ Alice filled in the food order form

and gave it to the cook. Soon, the food was ready. Joyce said,

‘Wow! The pizza is crispy. I like the Italian food.’ After they

finished their food, they tried the baked oysters. They did not like

the baked oysters because they did not like seafood. They felt sad.

In the end, when they drank lemonade, Alice asked the cook, ‘Why is my

lemonade not sour?’ The cook replied, ‘It’s because you ordered a milkshake,

not lemonade.’

A Blog Entry – A Cooking Class

Law Kin Lam, Kelly (4A)

Today my mother and I went to a cooking class. I was excited because it

was my first time to bake a cake.

The cooking teacher told us how to bake a cake. First, I

put two eggs, butter, flour and sugar into a big bowl and beat

it for five minutes. Then, I put the cake into an oven and

turned it on. Later on, some black smoke came out from the

oven. I was scared. The cooking teacher reminded us that

we should not bake the cake for more than thirty minutes but

we still baked the cake for a long time. My mother turned off the oven and the

cakes were burnt. Soon, my mother and I baked another cake again.

In the end, we tried our cake. I thought my cake was good. My mother’s

cake was better than mine. Our teacher’s cake was the best. I

liked my cake. My teacher liked my cake too. I hope I can take

part in this cooking class again.
