Last Friday, I had the pleasure of presenting our new Year 6 School Leaders and House Captains with their badges. As a whole school body I think that we have done an amazing job selecting our leaders for 2018. I would like to formally recognise these students on their achievement of becoming School Leaders and House Captains in 2018.

I know that with these 8 students leading our school, 2018 promises to be better than ever for Sharon State School.

Student Council

Once again, as part of last Friday’s parade, I had the added pleasure of presenting our newly elected Student Council Members with their badges. Our student council consists of students from Year 3 to 6 who are willing to be the voice of the students in their classroom and help work together with the leaders and the staff to come up with ways to support the school.

During this week we had a first meeting of the student council and it was fantastic to see so many wonderful ideas and initiatives that the students had brought to the meeting.

One such initiative is the Bullying. No Way! Day on Friday 16th March. With this the students will be able to wear and ‘Orange’ Shirt in order to show that our school says, ‘No!’ to Bullying. The student council members in each class are busily creating Flyers with all the information. At Sharon State School, we, ‘Say No to Bullying’. The student council looks forward to your support.

Leukaemia Foundation - World’s Greatest Shave

Sharon State School has registered for the World’s Greatest Shave to raise

money for Leukaemia. The Student Council will be holding the Shave/Colour

Day on Thursday 29th March which is the last day of term. The event will

take place after the Fun Run and all parents are invited to stay and watch the

fun - for a small donation of course.

Mrs Stapleton thought it would be a good idea to cut her ponytail off and

shave for a good cause but she didn’t realise what support she would get.

There are now seven members of staff and Mrs Dot who will be shaving on

the day.

A message will go home on Class DoJo with a link to our fundraising page

where you can make a donation or students are welcome to bring a donation to

school between now and the 29th March.

So far Mrs Stapleton has Mrs Lerch and Mrs Boving bidding to shave one side

of her head each. She will have two ponytails on the day and bids are

welcome to do the cutting.

Bids welcome from parents and staff to shave other staff members beautiful

locks.

The following Staff members will be taking part:

Mr Teefy, Mrs Stapleton, Mrs Boving, Mrs Searle, Mrs Puie, Ms Hicks, Mrs

Rose and Mrs Dot (RE Instructor).

Students are welcome to get a picture sprayed on their hair on the day by the

teachers for a Gold Coin Donation.

Please contact Mrs Stapleton in the office for any further information.

There will be boxes in

all the classrooms for

donations or you can

bring them directly to

the office.

We will be sending

home Raffle Tickets in

the next few weeks and

Easter Raffle

The last few years we

have had very

successful Easter

Raffles with over 20

prizes given out to

families and the

community and a profit

of over $800.

We are again running

the Easter Raffle and

asking parents to donate

chocolates eggs/bunnies

etc and other Easter

goodies.

Small or large

donations, it all helps to

make it another

successful raffle for the

school and ultimately

the students.

these will need to be

returned to school by

Tuesday 27 March

(Sold or Unsold). The

raffle will be drawn on

the last day of Term 1,

Thursday 29 March.
