OBJECTIVE
To provide a general overview of the types ofguides and tools available to ensure thatparticipants are aware of the available resourcesand to show that a variety of tools are needed fora varied audience including fishermen, portauthorities and customs authorities.

Conclusions
�Globally and in the Americas we have variousshark identification guides. In the early stages ofShark POA development, identification could havebeen a problem, but it is not any longer.
�We should continue working on making sure theresource users are aware of these tools and knowhow to use them.
�Without a doubt, genetic identification is andwill continue to be crucial to the oversight andmanagement of this resource.
