Dynamic Flight Simulator:Pilot training and qualification for 9Gz flight.

System overview:• The dynamic flight simulator (DFS) is a combination of a flight simulator and a centrifuge. • The main parts are a large engine, a 30 feet arm and a two degrees of freedom gondola where the pilot is placed. • The pilot is in control and flies the DFS like an aircraft with stick and throttle and gets response both visually and through the generated G-load.

Training facilities:• The DFS offers G-training in a fighter cockpit (JAS39) mock-up in both free flight mode and in pre programmed profiles. • G-suit and helmet/mask are supported by a JAS 39 oxygen regulator.• Centrifuge and aerospace physiology training are performed according to certificate issued by USAF/Office of the Surgeon General.

Prerequisites and requirements:• Medical clearance for 9Gz flight is required according to European standard, including ultracardiography. • Briefing/debriefing will be provided in English for pilot training and qualification. • Medical data acquired during pilot training and qualification are recorded for further analysis.

DFS can also be used for test purposes like:• Man Machine Integration• Medical research and evaluation• Testing of pilot equipment• A generic turn able seat for research purposes is also available.

Guided Weapons RangeVidsel

Guided Weapons Range:The Vidsel Guided Weapons Range is used both as a training facility for Air Force and Army units as well as a test facility. At Vidsel all kinds of guided weapons can be used including AMRAAM missiles and heavy guided bombs. The vast restricted airspace is also used for training of UAV units and safe tests of UAV/UCAV systems. Situated at the Artic Circle the Range is very suitable for training and testing in cold weather conditions as well as night operations during the dark part of the year.

Overview:• The Base, with headquarters, airfield, hangars, control centre, work shops etc.• The Range, covering 1650 km², forming the largest land based range in W Europe. The Range includes surface target areas with moving targets on rail and stationary targets e.g. bridges, bunkers, hangars and military vehicles. Aerial targets consist of jet drones (MQM 107) that can be equipped with towed targets. All targets can be equipped with IR-plumers of flares, radar reflectors, miss distance indicators and jammers.

The Vidsel Guided Weapons Range offers:• Use of all kinds of guided weapons.• UAV/UCAV tests and training.• Cold weather operations and tests.• Night operations.• Use of radar, laser and EW systems.• EW-range capability.• Restricted airspace.• High security environment. All capabilities mentioned above at a range over land.

Guided Weapons RangeVidsel

The Vidsel Guided Weapons Range is also responsible for an over water range locatedNear Härnösand, by the Gulf of Bottnia. The over water range is used for tests and training with anti-ship missiles, both ship and air launched. This range can also be used for ship launched surface-to-air missiles.

Together with Esrange, run by Swedish Space Corporation, Vidsel Guided Weapons Range has established NEAT (North European Aerospace Test Range) witch can offera restricted airspace of up to 25 000 km². This, coupled with the fact that the density of commercial air traffic in the whole region is very low, provides very good opportunities for all kind of military flying activities.

Army Forces Proving GroundKarlsborg/Skövde

Army Forces Proving Ground Karlsborg/Skövde is the major location for evaluation and validation of Swedish Armed Forces land combat systems, direct- and indirect-fire systems, vulnerability and environmental tolerance. During all stages in an acquisition process, from development through operational use to phase-out, advanced test and validation are done on equipment to make sure that all requirements and operational specifications are met.

Core areas at the Proving Ground Karlsborg are:• Protection technology, primarily direct fire and mine protection of vehicles.• Direct aimed fire, principally involving weapons and ammunition for combat vehicles.• Weapon systems and ammunition for indirect fire.• Advanced targets for terminal-guided ammunition and missiles.

Core areas at the Proving Ground Skövde are:• Evaluation and validation of all types of military vehicles.• Cold weather operations.• Evaluation and validation of command and control systems.• Trials with technical demonstrators and prototypes.• Evaluation and validation of pioneer/engineer equipment.

The fielding of advanced protection systems for existing vehicles and future concepts isa major requirement in the future. A large portion of the production today within the Proving Ground Karlsborg is carried out in the area of protection technology. The Proving Ground Karlsborg/Skövde is also extensively involved in today's artillery development towards autonomous platforms with long-range weapon systems and built-in sensor systems in the projectiles.

Army Forces Proving GroundKarlsborg/Skövde

Both Proving Ground Karlsborg and Skövde is located within secure and guarded areas. The Skövde site is located within the Army garrison at Skövde, one of Sweden's largest, which means close access to the garrisons facilities and range.

The Proving Ground Karlsborg/Skövde is also able to carry out evaluation and validation in any environment relevant to the user force by having access to mobile instrumentationand equipment.

Proving Ground Karlsborg/Skövde also has access to the Älvdalen Firing and Training Range. The Älvdalen Range covers an area of 540 km² and is ideally suited for evaluation of artillery and armed vehicle systems. At the Älvdalen Range a special area for use of live sub munitions has been established that minimises the risk in clearing unexploded ordnance.
