CHALLENGESState Contract, Bidding Project

or existing system

Does not understand concept

of project, just dollar amount

Each state may differ, each

agency does things differently

Determining costs and securing proper funding

Page 12: Sharing Technology Data Chief William Walsh Bellmawr Police Department, NJ Richard Norcross Commander, Camden County Prosecutors Office, NJ (Ret) CSI

OVERCOMING THESE CHALLENGES

Discuss all the options available to purchase

Meet with and discuss the project, having someone

speaking negative about the project may hurt the project

Project may be available under state contract or existing system

may exist, always mention that this is a multi-agency project

Determining start up costs and join in costs for agencies,

be transparent with all the expenses

Page 13: Sharing Technology Data Chief William Walsh Bellmawr Police Department, NJ Richard Norcross Commander, Camden County Prosecutors Office, NJ (Ret) CSI

Determing Costs•Include all costs associated with project.•Start up costs, hardware, software and

installation•IT yearly maintenance contracts (split)

after project funding exhausted.•Yearly software and hardware

maintenance costs, (software/upgrades and licensing fees)

•Keep agency buy in cost uniformed

• Documents are scanned & stored• Discovery is electronic• Forms are system generated• Alerts are system generated• Data gets passed from start to finish

without being re-entered twice. • Regional Master Name, Vehicle &
