Sharing Content – does it have to be new? Posted by Peter on April 9, 2015 in Blog | Comments Off I was reading a tweet “100% original content” – it proudly proclaimed. I am not sure what this meant, I probably should! However it got me thinking as I looked out to sea, down here at Branksome Beach. Should I feel guilty if the majority of my stuff is retweeted and not my own? And if I won or made a few million and could afford to post JUST my own content: would that of itself be better? Google does like original content, and we have always created plenty of this ourselves anyway. Along with partners in our networks such as the CIM, Dorset Business Angels, Dorset Community Foundation, BU and other valued friends. Articles from experts are great and people like to read them. HOWEVER! On Twitter in particular there’s some great stuff and frankly who cares where it is from as long as it is: - interesting - engaging - entertaining - amusing - informative

Sharing Content – does it have to be new?Posted by Peter on April 9, 2015 in Blog | Comments Off

I was reading a tweet “100% original content” – it proudly proclaimed.

HOWEVER! On Twitter in particular there’s some great stuff and frankly who cares where it is from as long as it is:

- interesting

- engaging

- entertaining

- amusing

- informative

- newsworthy

The list of course goes on. And the rider is that if you can provide original content, such as blogs, your own comments in addition or prefacing retweets that works well, we know. Plus everyone seems to be different. Some friends and colleagues on Twitter seldom post content per se for viewing, they use it more like I would an emailing service. Others do a bit both.

It does depend if your site is for personal, small business or big business use of course. But a number of principles still remain. Good content and a “good read” whether written by you or endorsed by you for those who follow you, is good or bad, period, I reckon.
