Eleonora Bilotta, Blue Fractal Flowers, acrylic on canvas 80X120cm. Artist’s estate.

Fractal form from Chua’s circuit called Chua’s Machines (Bilotta et al., 2009). Embellished and realized through the flower metaphor, this shape is a close attractor reproduction by painting. This attractor –mathematical representation of the evolution of a dynamical system- is a fixed point -a point of a function that does not change under some transformation- with some fractal characteristics and it is represented in three different sizes.

Eleonora Bilotta, Red Flower, 2009. Acrylic on canvas, 120x1180. Artist’s estate. Red part of the flower is an attractor -mathematical representation of the evolution of a dynamical system- from Chua’s Machines (Bilotta et al., 2009). This attractor is a limit cycle –a periodic orbit of the system- embellished through the biological metaphor of a plant. The original shape is realized by painting in order to recall Viola arvensis also called Fiel pansy.

Eleonora Bilotta, A man in a trap, 2009. Acrylic on canvas, 80X120cm. Artist’s estate.

An imaginary man is trapped in an attractor like shape.

Eleonora Bilotta, Plant Flower like, 2009. Acrylic on canvas, 70X50cm. Artist’s estate.

A Flower similar to a plant, is represented using the shape of a strange attractor.

Eleonora Bilotta, Image à la Jackson Pollock, 2007. Digital printing, 80x120 cm. Artist’s estate. Here the artist manipulates the attractor from its inside, creating an object inspired by Jackson Pollack’s experiments with “Dripping” or Drip Painting. In several of his works, Pollock covered his canvases with paint that has dripped from brushes or sticks or directly from the can. Here, the manipulation of the attractors is reminiscent of what we see in some of these painting, creating a surreal dimension to the work.

Music From Chaos• “Drops” from the CD audio Emergencies (E. Bilotta, E. Cupellini, P.

Pantano, 2007)• The sounds on this CD includes tracks were obtained by

arrangement of melodies generated through the evolution of Cellular Automata. The arrangements are occurring by using geometric transformations of the raw data and assigning the orchestral sounds to the various parts.

• • “Studio3.5Beta” from the CD audio Music from a gallery of Chua

attractors (E. Bilotta, P. Pantano, 2008)• Artists handled the basic melodies, obtained by using Chua

oscillator, to create pleasant products. In particular, two tracks in the CD audio presents sounds from original complex behaviour, without any further manipulation.
