DEFINITIONSTHE MARKET IS FILLED WITH ACRONYM SOUP: RPA, IPA, ETC. HERE ARE THE PRIMARY DEFINITIONS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Robotic Process Automation (RPA)RPA technology, sometimes called a software robot or bot, mimics a human worker, logging into applications,
entering or consuming data, calculating and completing tasks, then logging out. Use case example: As a virtual
account analyst, a software robot takes a bank application form, logs into a credit check site, a background check
site, a known terrorist database and a criminal database, collecting results and snippets and automatically building a
background profile on the applicant for final review.
Intelligent Process Automation (IPA)IPA is the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to process technology to create an enhanced
solution. The technologies included in an overall solution might be RPA, BPM/Workflow and the use of image
recognition and machine learning. Blue Prism defines 6 distinct categories of Intelligent Automation skills that can
be leveraged in RPA shown in the graphic below.
These technologies augment any solution, enhancing the process. Shamrock falls into several of these categories.
The ability to harvest, understand and deliver insights from different fragmented data sources

THE RPA MARKETRPA BEGAN WITH BASIC DESKTOP AUTOMATION THAT IN-CLUDED SCREEN SCRAPING AND SIMPLIFIED INTEGRATIONS.
Today, the technology encompasses complex platforms that don’t require coding to integrate with all enterprise
software systems. There are currently three market leaders - Blue Prism, UiPath, and Automation Anywhere, but the
number of vendors continue to grow. This is a flourishing market.

6Shamrock Solutions
Many of the automation work opportunities I am seeing always begin with documents…all paths lead back to them as a starting point for pro-cess automation.” Principal Partner at Grant Thornton
SHAMROCK OPPORTUNITYTHERE IS REAL OPPORTUNITY FOR SHAMROCK AND ITS PART-NERS TO RIDE THE IPA/RPA WAVE, AND THE BUSINESS DEVEL-OPMENT TEAM’S FOUNDATION-BUILDING HAS GENERATED INCREDIBLY POSITIVE INITIAL FEEDBACK.
Globally, Shamrock has existing projects in production with both Blue Prism and UIPath. From a partnership
perspective, every single large consultancy and system integrator has an RPA practice (which is typically tied to their
ERP practice) and is a prospect for Shamrock.
So where do we fit?
Few RPA tools incorporate full text-analysis of the letters, emails and attachments or faxes which make up the
unstructured content an average company receives daily. Take, for example, an invoice. An RPA system might
take key document characteristics like email address of sender (if the file was sent as an attachment to an AP
email group), name of the file, and date of receipt to make accounts payable workflow routing decisions for that
submission. However, data locked away within the invoice itself could be useful for the workflow process. Document
data like Total Due or Shipping Address or even individual line items listed on the bill could impact where or to whom
that invoice should be sent or if any additional action is necessary. Using data extracted by an advanced capture tool
on the front-end like Shamrock’s Intelligent Data Extraction – which relies on full text analysis of document content
and machine learning – will extend the capabilities of the RPA tool by providing a more complete picture of the
information being processed.

SHAMROCK + RPA/IPA VALUE PROPOSITION
SHAMROCK’S INTELLIGENT DATA EXTRACTION FACILITATES INTELLIGENT PROCESS AUTOMATION (IPA) BY AUGMENTING ROBOTIC PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY WITH DOCUMENT INTELLIGENCE. SHAMROCK PROVIDES THE CONTENT CAPTURE ENGINE THAT ENABLES SOFTWARE ROBOTS TO MAXIMIZE THE AUTOMATION POTENTIAL OF DATA-DRIVEN PROCESSES.
8Shamrock Solutions
Shamrock’s Intelligent Data Extraction can act as the front-end capture or ingestion point for RPA workflows or can
operate mid-process flow. Read through the following use cases for examples of each.
DBS Bank (Singapore)Corporate Loan Processing - DBS uses Shamrock’s Intelligent Data Extraction in their corporate loans department as
an application extender for the RPA solution Blue Prism. For this use case, Shamrock handles the front-end capture
of documents, facilitating content classification, data extraction, and export to Blue Prism. A simple API call enables a
seamless integration between the two applications. From here, Blue Prism automates the workflow approval process
and routing to the back-end content management system. Without Shamrock managing the initial automated capture
of documents, much of the metadata utilized in the workflow would need to be indexed manually.
PwC SpainTravel Insurance Reimbursement - When a client cancels their trip, the insurance company reimburses the client
for the expenses covered by their policy. The client emails a cancellation form along with the associated invoices
(airfare, hotel, taxi, etc.). UiPath monitors the inbox and captures all the information sent by the client (email,
attachments, etc.). UiPath then deposits the documentation in a directory monitored by Intelligent Data Extraction.
Intelligent Data Extraction, which identifies each of the types of documents and extracts the required information
from the form. Next, Shamrock generates a structured document in XML format. Finally, UiPath analyzes the XML
file, uploads the identified documents to the document manager, indicates their typology, and sends an email to a
manager for human review extracted data from the cancellation form.
Medical Subscription Form Processing - The workflow for this automation project is as follows:
1. The employee takes a photograph of the subscription/unsubscription form and sends it through WhatsApp to a
telephone number associated with UiPath.
2. UiPath periodically reviews the messages received through the web version of WhatsApp, downloads the
image and places it in a directory monitored by Shamrock.
3. Shamrock analyzes the image and identifies whether it is a registration or withdrawal form. (If the document is
not identified, UiPath sends a Whatsapp message to the sender indicating that the image has not been recog-
nized.)
4. Once the form is identified, Intelligent Data Extraction extracts data - name, date of subscription/unsubscription,
etc. – and exports it as an XML to UiPaths.
5. UiPath analyzes the information extracted by Intelligent Data Extraction, communicates to the sender via
WhatsApp if any information is missing and, if everything is correct, it proceeds to register the medical subscrip-
tion/unsubscription record in the company’s back-end system.

GO TO MARKETBlue Prism goes to market 100% through partners, the big system integrators and global consultancies. Note: RPA is
a fairly expensive technology to purchase and implement, so it is primarily larger companies with strong technical/
implementation practices that target these solutions for resale purposes.
Blue Prism PartnersCapgemini is a pending Shamrock Global Reseller Partner with a strong RPA & ERP systems practice. They primarily
propose, sell and implement BluePrism as their go-to RPA solution, but they do a small amount of UiPath business
as well.
UiPath PartnersUiPath has a mixed GTM strategy. They work with the large SIs and mid-sized consultancy companies alike. They
also have a direct sales team. Marcum LLP is an Shamrock Channel Partner and a global consultancy company.
Their RPA practice has a focus on the Financial Services industry, and aims to use Shamrock’s Intelligent Data Ex-
traction as the front-end capture tool for their proposed automation solutions.
