    Prologue

Thousands of years ago, the world found itself on the brink of destruction, tornapart by a dreadful war between the warriors of the darkness and the servants of the light.

The Black King Davo had subjected the world to a never-ending assault with the forces

of his ary of !hadow "alkers, huans who held the ability within the to control andharness the powers of darkness in their hearts. #n a world where all the eleents could be

harnessed by powerful warriors, none were as strong or as feared as the !hadow "alkers.

Davo saw the purity in the world and sought to destroy it, consued by the

darkness eanating out of his own heart. $athering an ary of near a illion warriors all

serving the darkness, Davo first struck against the Teple of %is !hining %and, hoe of

the !hining &onks as well as his brother, &elek. The surprise attack left the Teple insoldering ruins as Davo and his en slaughtered every !hining &onk at the teple.

'ro there, Davo spread his corrupting touch across the kingdos as they fell before the

darkness one after another, like doinoes.

Davo(s capaign finally cae to an end at the Battle of the %eavens, where the

Black King and his en attepted to con)uer the %eavenly *ity, hoe of the +rb ofTranscendence. The +rb held within it the power of a thousand burning suns, granting

unliited power to any wielder of light that it granted worthy. Davo saw the +rb as a

threat, the only weapon in the world that could halt his con)uest to etinguish the lightfro all reality.

s Davo and his ary of !hadow "alkers arched towards the city, they were

et with the final surviving ary left in the world, ade up of warriors fro near aboutevery nation. &elek, having survived the assacre at the Teple of %is !hining %and,

stood at the head of the ary, ready to end the adness his brother had wrought upon theworld. The Battle of the %eavens lasted for three days and three nights as the %eavenly*ity was nearly destroyed by both aries. s every soldier fell one after another, it

eventually cae down to one-on-one battle between Davo and &elek, the Black King

    and the ast !hining &onk.

#n the end, Davo was defeated by &elek as the onk used the +rb of

Transcendence to enhance his power. s Davo fell in battle, &elek looked out over the

ashes of the world that his brother had deolished so ercilessly and cae to reali/e thata new era of peace ust be ushered in. &elek took the reains of his brother(s body, a

brother that despite the darkness in his heart he still loved, and carried his reains to the

highest point of &ount 'argo, towering over the %eavenly *ity. &elek buried Davo(sreains there, arking the grave with only Davo(s sword, Black %eart, plunged into the

ground. The grave would reain unseen and untouched for centuries.

s &elek descended fro the ountain top, it was obvious to the people waiting

to be his followers that he had coe back a changed an. The tie of separate nations

was over, &elek declared, as he united all si nations under one banner. nd thus, the

Kingdo of 0iebo was born and an era of peace and prosperity began as &elek crowned

hiself ord of ight and overlord of the !even Kingdos of 0iebo. The *apitol *ity

was built upon the reains of the Teple of the !hining &onks as a reebrance to the

en who fell at the start of the war. &elek hid away the +rb of Transcendence deepwithin the vaults of the capitol in order that no one save the ord of ight could use its

    power to rule the kingdos.

The world began to change as the tie of darkness ended and gave way to an era

of light. fter every !hadow "alker had been killed during the Battle of the %eavens,

&elek saw a chance to ensure that darkness never threatened to consue the world everagain. %e declared that once a year, failies of newborn children would ake a

pilgriage to the nearest holy teple where the *leansing 1itual would be held. #t was

here that specially trained onks would eaine each newborn thoroughly to deterine

if they were a !hadow "alker or not. 0ewborns discovered to contain the essence of a!hadow "alker within the were eecuted on the spot, a punishent that awaited any

faily that attepted to avoid the 1itual as well. s the years passed, hundreds of

newborn !hadow "alkers lessened to do/ens and continued to decline until there were

none left. lthough there had not been a !hadow "alker seen for nearly five hundredyears, the 1itual continued without pause in order to keep the world at peace. The title of

ord of ight would pass down fro &elek to his son and on throughout tie as the lightshone over the world.

But though the darkness had subsided, it never dies. nd when the light shines thebrightest, the darkest shadows are born2
