Shabbat Shalom from Beth Yeshurun!Beth Yeshurun is a community institution with a vital mission:to educate children and adults, to offer spiritual experiences

that inspire and uplift all ages, and to provide a setting in which Judaism can be joyously lived and experienced.

Mazel Tov to our B’nai Mitzvah, Blake Elliott Cohen, son of Tamara and Matthew Cohen and the brother of Drew Cohen. He is the grandson of Margie Cohen and Sue and Kenneth Reichek and great-grandson of Anne and Isadore Reichek and Fran Spector and the late Myer Spector. Blake attends Emery Weiner School where he enjoys baseball, soccer, choir and spikeball.

For his mitzvah project, Blake and his partner Jake Melamed volunteered with Run for the Rose. Blake will also take place in the Rabbis Ten Percent Plan for charitable giving. Blake looks forward to sharing this special occasion with his friend and Bar Mitzvah partner Jake.

Mazel Tov to our B’nai Mitzvah, Jake Harrison Melamed, son of Robin and Evan Melamed; brother of Max Melamed; grandson of Jane Gold, Paul and Suzanne Gold, and Leon and Maureen Melamed. Jake is a eighth grader at Trafton Academy, and enjoys playing golf, basketball and baseball. For his mitzvah project, he volunteered with Run for the Rose, which is an organization

that raises money to help fight brain cancer. He will also be donating a portion of his monetary gifts to The Innocence Project, which is an organization that works to exonerate people who have been wrongly convicted.

Mazal Tov to our Bat Mitzvah, Emily Rose Newman, daughter of Jill and Steven Newman, sister of Hailey Newman, granddaughter of Lynda Newman and Joseph Newman of blessed memory, and Dr. Jerome Wasserstein and Carol Wasserstein of blessed memory. She is a graduate of Beth Yeshurun Day School and is currently in 7th grade at Emery Weiner where she has participated

in theater and Lacrosse. Emily is teaching refugee students English as her Mitzvah project and will partake in the Rabbi’s ten percent plan for charitable giving.

A Notice About Bereavement Communications Bereavement notices for our synagogue family are distributed with the permission of the deceased’s family, and the timing of these notices is dictated by the family’s request. Of course, each family grieves in its own way, and we are grateful for our congregation’s patience and understanding with different families’ preferences about how their loss is publicized.
