It had been a pleasure to be celebrating our nations Golden Jubilee together with you. It was a remarkable journey in preparing this commemorative book and video to mark the progress we had made together as a nation.

In this book, Faces of our Community will you see a series of 50 images of our community Bedok Reservoir Punggol from a different perspective. There are many things in this little red dot that portrays distinctness and uniqueness. It is this uniqueness that contributes to the Singapore story that is close to our heart. I hope the series of photos will bring out fond memories in you as we reflect upon those familiar scenes.

Through our other SG50 project Voices from the Heart, we had a humbling experience to hear from Singaporean across generations sharing their heartfelt thoughts about Singapore. Some of these thoughts can be viewed on our Facebook Page. Voices from the Heart has another objective, which was to create a musical video of this years NDP Song Our Community using hand signs. This is also part of our efforts to create a more inclusive community.

Together, we hope that you enjoy this commemorative book and celebrate this joyful occasion as One Singapore! Happy Birthday Singapore!

Punggol Community Club Youth Executive Committee (Punggol CC YEC) is part of the youth outreach network of the Peoples Association Youth Movement (PAYM). The PAYM has up to a total of 102 dedicated YECs who drive programmes and events in the community.

Since Punggol CC YEC formation in 1991, we are committed in building bonds among youths aged 12 to 35 within our community. Over the years, the committee continues to refocus itself in order to stay relevant. However, it still holds onto its main purpose of creating avenues for youths to bond with their peers from multi-cultural backgrounds.

In 2014, we launched new initiatives and realigned the key purpose of the YEC, which is to give the youth community a higher ownership in building their community identity. This could be witnessed through Project Ignite, where secondary school students are given the opportunity to organise their own dream projects under the guidance and training from YEC.
