Standards TENNESSEE STATE FORESTS EARN SFI FOREST MANAGEMENT STANDARD CERTIFICATION All of Tennessee’s 15 state forests, covering 168,359 acres/68,132 hectares, are now certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Forest Management Standard. 139 PRINTERS ACHIEVE LARGEST GROUP CERTIFICATION TO THE SFI CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY STANDARD A group of 139 printers in major cities and markets in the U.S. has recently certified to the SFI Chain-of-Custody Standard, the largest SFI group certification of any industry to the standard. Conservation CONSERVATION SOUNDING BOARD ADDRESSES WATER RESOURCES This recent virtual meeting featured a discussion and project results focused on the relationship between forests, water resources, and the downstream impacts on human and aquatic communities. PLT ALIGNED TO NATIONAL SCIENCE STANDARDS Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) set the expectations for high- quality science instruction in the U.S. PLT’s Green Jobs: Exploring Forest Careers guide includes four hands-on instructional activities for youth to explore green jobs.The activities have been explicitly correlated to NGSS to meet the needs of teachers and their students.
