Beacon Light Behavioral Health System’s Treatment for Sexually Aggressive Youth (S.A.Y.) program is specific to sex offending and sexually maladaptive behaviors for adolescent boys 13-18 years of age. The treatment program is designed around the core belief that adolescents deserve treatment for their sexually maladaptive behaviors in a strength-based environment. Individualized treatment planning encompasses the adolescent’s specific developmental issues, method of learning, and individual strengths. Treatment is provided in a non-shaming, non-judgmental environment. Young men are encouraged to gain insight, to take full responsibility for their sexu-ally offending behavior, to improve the overall quality of life for the victims they harmed, and to assist the youth in remaining free from future harmful behaviors.

The program is cognitive behavior therapy-based and employs a multidisci-plinary approach to ensure treatment is individualized, innovative, and collaborative. Care provided is researched based and involves comprehensive assessments including:

• The Abel for Sexual Interest

• Estimate of Risk for Adolescent Sexual Offense Recidivism

• Offense specific polygraph examinations

• Clinical interviews

• I.Q testing

• Psychiatric/psychological evaluations

The facility features delayed-lock, alarmed doors, 24-hour video surveillance, and round the clock, awake supervision. All staff members have received advanced training in dealing with the complex issues associated with this population. Residents receive individual, group, and family counseling on a weekly basis from a team of Master’s Level Clinicians. In addition, each client meets with the psychiatrist monthly to monitor medications.
