ascinated by freedom and adventure, myfather Rudolf bought a piece of land nearMombasa at the Indian Ocean over 40 years

ago, where he opened a small hotel for his friendsand himself in 1972, calling it Severin Sea Lodge.This was the cornerstone for our hotel and tourismbusiness today.

What my father once initiated, I am carrying ontoday as managing director of Severin TouristikGmbH. Africa, and particularly Kenya, continues toinspire me. Those vast open spaces, the breath-taking wildlife, the roar of the Indian Ocean, thefriendliness of the people. Together with dedicatedfriends, my family created two oases that reflectour deep attachment to a country that is on its wayto democracy.

Instead of luxurious perfection, cool exclusivity andinterchangeable anonymity, the Severin Sea Lodgeand Severin Safari Camp celebrate human quali-ties. The success of Severin hotels is based on thework and cooperation of a close-knit team of morethan 350 employees in Germany and Kenya. Thissounds obvious, but it’s unique, because we haven’tachieved our goal until the friendliness and service orientation of our staff is not only reflec-ted in the details, but in the eyes of our guests and customers.

The Severin philosophy is marked by clear values,special emotionality and a sincere commitment tosustainability. We apply the highest standards ofecological and socially responsible action. Our association “Skills for Kenya” supports sociallyvulnerable and disadvantaged young people in theirprofessional training and further development toallow them better access to a professional life.

Our family-run business has clearly defined its vision for the future. My son Sebastian Severin represents the third generation to carry on the history of the business with hospitality, consistencyand passion. industrialist Rudolf Schulte Senior bought a palmgrove right on the edge of the Indian Ocean at thebeginning of the 70s, the Severin Sea Lodge, thuslaying the foundation for today's hotel and tourismbusiness, Severin Touristik.

Tsavo West and East National Park is the third largest national park in the world and home toherds of elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalaswhich, among others, roam the landscape in search

of fresh grass. The park is dominated by openscrubland that is interspersed with forested moun-tains, green river banks, lava flows and craters.There is a lot to discover during the exciting gamedrives in the park that covers more than 22,000 km2.

The Severin Safari Camp is designed in a stylish natural design. The tents and suites feature hand-crafted wood furniture in traditional African style.

The camp offers 27 luxurious accommodations and 8 self-contained Kitani bandas spread over 25hectares of bushland. The camp is not fenced andtherefore perfectly integrated into the natural en-vironment. The tents provide a wonderful view of thelandscape and the wild animals that pass freely atthe water hole. Maasai warriors work around theclock to protect them and are also representative ofthe harmony of the Severin Safari Camp with manand nature.
