Circles of Care Lessons March 10 The Diocese of Baton Rouge requires us to offer Circles of Care lessons once each year during a regular Faith Formation session. We will offer this when we return from the Mardi Gras break on Monday, March 10. Every child was given a letter to take home to their parents this past Monday with more information. Please take the time to read through the letter and call Pam, 225-265-3953, ext 13, if you have any questions.
Summer Mission Projects This summer we plan to host our 7th annual summer mission. As in the past, we begin early in the year to solicit homes in need of interior or exterior cleaning and painting. If you would like for us to consider your home as a work proj-ect this summer, please call Pam Folse at the church office, 265-3953, ext. 13. We would like to hear from you by April 1.
African-American Mass This Sunday The Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary is celebrating their 19th African-American Mass on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Gramercy. The homilist will be Deacon Warren Pierre and the theme is “Live by God’s Word and Everything is Well Done.” Music will be provided by the Sacred Heart Gospel Choir. This is a celebration to help all realize that the Catholic Church is a homeland for all people of all cultural and ethnic traditions--a Church of many different faces. Come and join in the celebration.
Ash Wednesday Masses
The church office will be closed Monday and Tuesday,
March 3 & 4 for Mardi Gras. Have a great holiday and be safe
at the parades.
Dr. Sheryl Jones will give a day of prayer and healing on Sat., March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A retired physician, Dr. Jones is happy to be coming to her home parish for this day of prayer, healing and what-ever else the Lord may have in store for those who attend. “When people seek God in earnest, He has a way of show-ing up in ways we can’t imagine,” she said from her home in Hammond this week. The day begins at 10 a.m. and includes lunch. Those who come should bring a bible and a notebook. There is a minimal $5 registration fee for lunch and registration forms are available on the rack in church.
Attend Prayer Day WithDr. Sheryl Jones
The Good Children Society will once again sponsor their annual Lenten dinners every Friday during Lent be-ginning on Fri., March 7 at the society hall. Dinners can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. $8 per plate.
Building and Plaque
Blessed This past Sunday, Feb. 16, was the blessing of the new bathroom building and the plaque signifying that the church is now on the National Register of Historic Places. After the Mass, Fr. Michael thanked Dr. Paul Leslie and Fr. Henry Gautreau for their contributions to the National Register Process. During the homily for the weekend he thanked the people of the parish for their financial donations toward the construction of the new building through the capital cam-paign. After Mass Fr. Michael invited parishioners to join him in procession out of the church through the main doors where he blessed the plaque and all the rooms of the new building. Those in attendance then enjoyed walking through the meeting room and marveled at the modern restroom fa-cility which replaced the old one built in the 1950s.
