Introduction

ColourControl 2 provides a simple method for restricting access to make color copies on Kyocera devices

with HyPAS platform. To make color copies, users must authenticate at the device. Black and white

copies can be taken without restrictions.

Choose ColourControl 2 if you need a simple system to restrict colour

copying

Allow only authorized individuals to make colour copies

Supported Devices

Colour devices supporting the HyPAS software technology:

TASKalfa ci models

FS-C2526MFP / FS-C2626MFP

ECOSYS M6026cidn

ECOSYS M6526cidn

ECOSYS FS-C8525MFP

ECOSYS FS-C8520MFP

Known restriction:

ColourControl 2 will not work with TASKalfa 552ci in combination with USB card readers!

Part 1: Installation and Registration

This section describes how to install and set up ColourControl 2. It is relevant for administrators and

service technicians.

Installation

Required file: ColourControl.pkg

Copy the ColourControl pkg file to the root folder of an empty USB flash drive.

Note that the USB flash drive needs to be compatible with the requirements of the

device.

Open the System Menu, scroll to the next page and press the Application button. If

prompted to authenticate, login with an administrator account. The application screen

will list all applications currently installed on the MFP.

Press the Add button to open the Application-Add screen. Then insert the USB flash

drive into the USB slot. Within a few seconds, the MFP will display ColourControl 2 in

the list of applications found on the USB flash drive.

Select ColourControl 2 and press the Install button. When prompted to confirm, press

Yes. The MFP will confirm that the application installed correctly.

Then, press the Remove Memory button. After the MFP confirms that it is safe to

remove the USB memory device, remove it from the MFP.

Press the Close button to exit back to the Application page.

Select ColourControl 2 and press the Activate button. When prompted to confirm

activation, press the Yes button.

ColourControl 2 will activate itself and switch to the configuration screen.

Note: for devices without hard disc, an external memory card (CF card or SD card) as per requirements

of the device is needed to store the HyPAS application.

Trial period and activation

A license for ColourControl 2 needs to be purchased per device. For testing purposes, a trial period is

available.

Available Days: 30

Trial Count: 30

After expiration of trial period, activation is required or the application will not start.

Registration

Go to www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu and choose Service World, Product Registration.

Alternatively you can follow the link

Go to Hardware Option Registration, and click on the red check mark in the column for HyPAS

applications to start the registration process.

First, enter the Product ID that you have received upon order in the License Certificate, and click Next.

In the next step you can verify that you are registering the right application.

In the next step, enter the serial number of the device and press Next.

Enter the serial number again for confirmation.

Verify that all your entries are correct.

You will now receive the License Key that you need to enter into the device.

The License Key will only work with the

individual machine it was registered for.

Please make sure to archive all codes!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Activation on the device

Login as administrator

Open the System Menu

Select Application (2nd page of System Menu)

Select ColourControl 2

Select Activate

Enter License Number and select 'Run'

(You can also select Trial)

Turn off/on device

Removing Colour Control from the device

Removing or deactivating the application should be done by your authorized KYOCERA service

technician.

Viewing Usage

Copier usage can be accessed in the Status screen on the operation panel or on the Command Center

web page as shown below. In either case, the user name column shows who has made copies.

Users who have made copies without logging on are displayed as Public.

Part 2: Configuration and Administration

The configuration page will be shown automatically after first start.

The administrator has the following options to set up ColourControl 2 for user authentication:

o Local User: Card Reader or PIN

o Local User: Card Reader or User Name + Password

o Network Users : User Name + Password

o LDAP User: Card Reader or User Name + Password

Option 1- Local Users with card reader or PIN

For PIN login, the administrator has to set local MFP users with the login name as PIN.

For Card Reader login, the administrator has to set the local MFP users and their card IDs.

Please see Part 2: Setting Local Users for instructions how to set up local users.

Setting up PIN authentication

To set up PIN authentication for local users, please log in as administrator first.

In the System Menu, please go to the Local User List:

In the Local User List, click Add to create a new user.

The following settings need to be entered for PIN authentication:

User Name => enter the user name here

The user name will not be used for login, only for identification of the user in the user

list.

Login User Name => enter the PIN here

The PIN will be used to login into ColourControl 2

Login Password => leave this field empty

Confirm the settings with Save and log out. Now, every defined user can login with their PIN.

Option 2- Local Users with card reader or User Name and Password

For login with user name and password, the administrator has to define local MFP users.

For Card Reader login, the administrator has to set the local MFP users and their card IDs.

Option 3- Network Users with User Name and Password

If this option should be used, the administrator has to set Network Authentication settings via the

Command Center before installing ColourControl2.

Option 4- LDAP Users with Card Reader or User Name and Password

To create the connection to the LDAP server, the settings need to be completed.

The communication to LDAP will be done with plain text authentication.

The CardID Attribute is the defined attribute in the LDAP server which contains the Card ID.

Login Pages

Depending on the administrator settings for user authentication, the user interface will look

slightly different.

If the selected configuration is authentication via Card Reader or PIN, the panel will display the

entry field for the PIN code. Colour copying is only possible after authentication via PIN or ID

card.

If the selected configuration is authentication via Card Reader or User Name and Password, the

panel will display the entry fields for the user name and password.

Part 3: Setting Local Users

If you are using ColourControl 2 with local users, the local users can be set via Command Center.

Setting Job Acounting and Registering Users

ColourControl 2 can use the local authentication settings of the device, which means it can take local

user information from the device settings.

You can use the Command Center to create users for local authentication and to define passwords. You

need to log in as administrator to set up users and change the authentication mode.

Please refer to the documentation of the Command Center for details.

Step 1: Setting Job Accounting to ON

On the device, the administrator needs to activate Job Accounting.

1. Go to System Menu

2. Press User Login / Job Accounting

3. You need to login as administrator

4. Press Job Accounting Setting / Next

5. Press Job Accounting / Change

6. Select On

7. Press OK

Job Accounting is now activated for the device.

Step 2: Creating User Logins

1. Open the Command Center.

2. On the upper menu bar, switch to Basic.

3. Open the User Login page.

4. Click Add and enter the information of the user.

5. Click Submit.

Editing a User Login

1. Open the Command Center.

2. On the upper menu bar, switch to Basic.

3. Open the User Login page.

4. Click the desired Login User Name or Name to edit the user and modify their

information.

5. Click Submit.

Deleting a User Login

1. Open the Command Center.

2. On the upper menu bar, switch to Basic.

3. Open the User Login page.

4. Check the desired user.

5. Click Delete.

6. The User Login - Delete page appears. You can confirm the users to be deleted.

Click Delete when the desired users are selected.
