Open up the following website:

http://wordpress.com

On the first screen click on Sign up now

Page 4: Setting up a blog

In the Blog Address box type in your school user name. It will have a tick if the name has not already been used.Click on No thanks, I’ll use the free wordpress.com address

Click in the Username box and your Username will automatically appear. It should be the same as your Blog Address.

Enter your Password in the 1st box and then retype your password in the 2nd box.

Enter your school email address into the E-mail address box – your school email is your [email protected].

Click on Sign up

You now need to go into your email to finish signing up.

Click on the link to activate your blog.

You now need to log in into your blog using your username and password

At this point you need to save your blog into your favourites. Click on Favourites.

Click on Add to Favourites

Select Add and your Blog will be saved in your Favourites so it will be easy to find whenever you want to add a post.

Changing the Appearance

Select My Blog and then Dashboard

Have a go at changing the look of your Blog by changing the Themes and Background. What else can you do with your Blog?

Adding a New Post

Click on My Blog and then New Post

Put the title of your blog in the 1st box and then write your blog in the large box. You can then see what you post looks like by selecting Preview

At the bottom add ‘Post Tags’ which are descriptive words that will enable you blog to be searched for on the Internet i.e. a Football website may have the tags football, sport, players, premiership, etc.

Once you have finished writing your blog post click on Publish to put it live on the Internet.
