Why do we use visual presentation in
classroom?
![Page 4: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Guide my thought when I'm planning
Guide my thoughts while I'm presenting
Visual is better then text
Students will have content to study from
The students will not be lost
It's my backup plan if I’m lost
It’s more appealing then using a black(white)board
Shows that I prepare myself for the lecture
It's creative
Causes good impressions
Everyone does it so why don't I
It's simple
It allows interaction
Emphasise key points
Students take notes better

PlanningIf you were to do a microteaching or a lecturing next week which tool with you choose? why? And how?
![Page 13: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
How to do it
• Technology is a mean or a resource not a strategy;
• Be creative and do things differently. Classroom should be a place to foster creativity;
• Involve the students and their active participation;
• Design meaningful resources;
• Design attracting resources.
![Page 14: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
How to do it
• You and the student are the centre not the tool;
• Integrate the tool with pedagogical activities. It is not just about delivery ;
• Combine more than one concept/tool ;
• Use resources from other people (OER). Not just images but videos and infographics, slideshow files and animations.

As a student I am expecting the use of slideshow presentations

Identify the 3 (individually) and 5 (in group) main mistakes in slideshow presentations
![Page 20: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
common mistakes in a slideshow
![Page 21: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Size mattersdepending on the size of the theatre and the distance students may be from the projector
this is not a word document so it won’t be seen at distance
Heading text should be seen as headingDepending on the size of the projector screen and the font used
heading with at least 32;text with at least 20
![Page 22: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Backgroundsbe aware of background/foreground combinations, as some are very difficult to distinguish for those with visual impairments
contrast with white or black when you have a background with colourful images or strong colours as this one
![Page 23: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Text fontKeep it simple, and light font. Avoid using serif fonts.
Avoid using underlining and italicsDepending on the context avoid using non formal font such as comics or difficult to read fonts such as Bauhaus or blackadder.
Use no more than 3 font sizes on your slides
![Page 24: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Bullet points and text amountWhen you have a lot of ideas to put in use bullet points or change pages. Either of this should not be exaggerated. Two continuing pages and five bullets are the most you can have. If you want to put ideas in the slide do
not use bullets but other visual aid such as diagrams, images, graphs or infographics. And above all do not place loads of information in the same slide because it is not the primary focus of a slideshow presentation. If you
want them to take something home then write a word sheet or give them a reading list. If you do put so much information what will happen is that your students will take their time to write what you have in the slide into
their notebooks rather than listening to what you are saying. Avoid this with less information.
![Page 25: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Images and visual aidOne of the key factors of slideshow software is that it allows to include images, infographics,
videos, diagrams and combining with text. They have however to make sense
What is the cat doing here besides being cute?
![Page 26: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Images and visual aidThe visual aid must have also good resolution so your students will see it perfectly in
the projector.
Avoid clip art
And excess of images
![Page 27: Session on visual presentation at Kingston University](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022052621/558b2254d8b42a3c2e8b466a/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Keep it simpleDon’t exaggerate in the number of animations
Avoid using irrelevant sound effects
Don’t use more than three colours in the same slide, being one of them black
Don’t include a timer for the transition of your slides if you are not completely certain and confident
