STUDENT RECUITMENT STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE CODE OF PRACTICE 2011/12 This form should be read and signed by all newly appointed Student Representative’s intending to work for Student Recruitment. Without signing this form the student will not be allowed to work. Expected Behaviour A Student Recruitment Student Representative must remember that they are an ambassador for Northumbria University and Higher Education and therefore should act professionally, responsibly and respectfully to others whilst on duty. Rules and Regulations For health and safety reasons, and for all visitors to Northumbria to have the opportunity to benefit and enjoy Student Recruitment events, the following rules and regulations will be in operation. Student Reps must be punctual at all times. Student Reps shall not vandalise or damage any property belonging to the University, staff or fellow students. Student Reps must not involve themselves in any unauthorised activities that are likely to cause injury to students, staff, or themselves. Alcohol must not be purchased, or consumed whilst on duty and Student Reps must consider the amount of alcohol consumption the night before working on an event. The purchase or use of any illegal substances is strictly forbidden whilst on duty. There is a no smoking policy throughout the University. Student Reps must smoke in designated areas and never whilst responsible for visitors. Student Reps are expected to read and understand emergency and absence procedures.

Serious Incidents of MisbehaviourIn the event of serious incidents of anti-social behaviour, such as fighting, the use of homophobic, sexist or racist language, or the use of alcohol, or illegal substances, the Student Rep concerned may invalidate their contract of employment.

Additional Rules and RegulationsBefore the start of an event staff may explain some additional rules and regulations for the day. As such, it is expected that you will adhere to them for your own health and safety, and that of other students and staff.

DECLARATION TO BE SIGNED BY THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE:

I have read the information presented in this Code of Practice and agree to adhere to the rules and regulations listed.

I also agree to adhere to any additional rules and regulations explained to me before the start of an event.

I understand that I may not be allowed to continue my employment in the event of serious misbehaviour on my part.
