The 5 principles of effectuation

Principle What it means

The Bird in Hand

- rather than starting by setting a fixed goal, start with where you are, what you know, and whom you know.

The Affordable Loss

- invest only what you can afford to lose.

The Crazy Quilt

- create an expanding network of self-selected stakeholders.

Lemonade- be open to surprises and leverage them; treat them as useful inputs rather than hindrances to be avoided.

The Pilot in the Plane

- co-create the future with things that are within your control, move one step at the time.
