Session 2 – Teddy Bears’ Trollies

IDEAS – investigating and evaluating a range of products;
FPTs – focused practical tasks; DMAs – design and make assignments.
Design and Make Task
In pairs, design and make a trolley for your Teddy Bear so that he can travel to the picnic.
Start by making a Jinks frame that is big enough for your Teddy Bear.
Draw it out on 1cm squared paper first and use your drawing to check before you cut.

Product Analysis (IDEA) Look at the range of wheeled toys. Divide them into fixed and moving axles
Now add wheels and axles to your frame
Helpful Hints: The seat
Add a place for your Teddy to sit you can make a net for an open card box
or use recycled materials.
Unit of Work Planning Activity:
Working in pairs, complete the Unit of Work Proforma for Designing and Making a Vehicle using a Jinks Frame.
These are not detailed lesson plans, but an outline that you would be basing the detailed lesson plans on.
