Serving underprivileged CHILDREN in and around our community.
After serving less than a month as a Board Member for Macomb
Charitable, Julie Wright has already proven herself an asset to our
foundation! Julie wrote a grant proposal for the Pepsi Refresh Project. Pepsi is
looking for people, businesses and non profits with ideas that have a positive
impact in their community. Each month, they accept up to 1000 new grant
applications and award grant money to 32 deserving ideas. Macomb Charitable
is proud to have been selected as one of the recipients for the month of August.
Heartfelt thanks to YOU, our supporters for voting for MCF each day. We were
awarded $5000.00 with the specific intent of helping homeless children and their
families transition into housing. We have already completed one move (read
about it in this newsletter) and more are planned soon. Thank you Pepsi for
believing in our cause, and thank you Julie for your hard work and dedication to
the less fortunate in our community.

164 Ladies came together to help raise
funds for Macomb Charitable Foundation
by attending the 4th Annual Ladies Golf
Outing held at Cracklewood Golf Club.
The theme this year was “American Pride”
and the ladies did not disappoint. Many
showed up dressed in patriotic colors and
some even decorated their carts.
Donations poured in from community
businesses, Cracklewood customers, staff
and from the attendee’s themselves. Under
the guidance of chairperson Julie Standlick,
the outing was a huge success and sold out
in three days! This committee does a
wonderful job of making sure attendee’s
walk away feeling as if they got their
money’s worth. Special thanks to the
entire committee & to the Cracklewood
staff for the time and effort spent to make
this the popular event it is.

IF YOU ENROLL YOURSELF, OUR
Our Mission Statement
The Macomb Charitable Foundation exists to help children living at or below
poverty level in Macomb County. Our goal is to alleviate the suffering of
children and their families by providing financial assistance for items such as but
not limited to; food, clothing, personal care items, rent/utility assistance, vehicle
repair, educational assistance and when available personal & spiritual mentoring.
This goal is accomplished through the generosity of our contributors by
providing children with benefits and services that meet their basic needs, thereby
enhancing their self esteem. It is our desire to focus on the child . To make that
child’s life richer, not just by offering assistance with worldly goods,
but by offering kindness, humility and respect.
The Macomb Charitable Foundation makes every effort to be open and fully
accountable to our donors and to make careful business decisions so that
contributed dollars provide the maximum help to the needy children who have
been referred to us. These referrals are accepted without regard to political
affiliation, religious belief or ethnic identity.
The Macomb Charitable
Foundation has completed
two fundraising events at
Snookers and we look for-
ward to participating again.
We are always looking for
individuals to volunteer &
work a four to five hour
shift during the four day
tournament. If you are in-
terested in learning more
about how you can help,
please contact our chairper-
son Debby Milton. Debby
and her crew did an out-
standing job at our last
event. Thanks to Don and
his crew at Snookers for
allowing MCF to partici-
pate.
Lakeside Assembly of God Church on Schoenherr in Sterling Heights
hosted a back to school BIG GIVE in early September. Macomb
Charitable was happy to send 200 of “our kids” to benefit from the
generosity shown by the members of Lakeside. Children in atten-
dance were given new backpacks and ample school supplies. They
were given an opportunity to select a pair of shoes and choose a gently
used winter coat. Seventy-five of the backpacks were donated by the
Macomb Township Lioness club. The ladies in this club purchase and
fill backpacks every year for the children in our program. They are
conscience about choosing backpacks that their own children would
want to carry. We at Macomb Charitable are proud to be affiliated
and supported by the Macomb Township Lioness (and Lions) as well
as the members of Lakeside Assembly of God.
Macomb Charitable supports the Food Pantry at St. Peter Lutheran Church
and School as they allow us to refer families to them. This pantry is always
in need of toilet paper and feminine hygiene products. The need for these
items is great. If you can help support this pantry, please drop your gift off
during business hours to St. Peter. The church is located on the corner of 24
Mile and Romeo Plank Road. Donations can also be dropped at Crackle-
wood Golf Club located at 18215 24 Mile (1/4 mile east of Romeo Plank).
This would be a great service project for your scout!
We sold these bracelets a
couple of years ago and
could hardly keep up with
the demand! Made with
12 uniquely beautiful
Swarovski Crystals, these
bracelets signify the
twelve stones that adorn
the foundations of heaven.
When you purchase this
bracelet, you will be help-
ing a child in need.
At $45.00 each, we ex-
pect to sell out. If you are

The Macomb Charitable Foundation is run strictly by volunteers. We do not pay for office space. We have
no storage facility. Therefore, we cannot accept and store donations. Please do not drop off used items to us
at our home or at Cracklewood.
You can call us to see if there is an IMMEDIATE need for furniture and we will post it with the Social
Workers we work with. When there is not an immediate need, & you are looking to donate large furniture or
appliances in good working condition, we recommend you call the Southeastern Michigan Furniture Bank.
The need for gently used furniture when a family moves from a shelter/motel into low income housing is
great. At the furniture bank, they provide FREE furniture to those in need. The idea is simple, the effect pro-
found. Cribs, because parents can’t bring new babies home without one. Beds, because women and children
escaping abusive relationships should not have to sleep on the floor. Dining room tables, because families torn
apart by disaster and abuse can come back together. The Furniture Bank is a partner agency of United Way.
Schedule pick up of large items by calling 248-332-1300.
Every school district in Macomb County has one staff member designated as the Homeless Liaison for their
district. That person is charged with identifying & reporting to the Macomb Intermediate School District
(MISD) the names of children attending school in their district who are currently homeless. The MISD has a
Homeless Education Liaison, Kathleen Kropf who keeps track of these numbers & assists the family with se-
curing transportation to & from school, with referrals to agencies for medical, optical & dental care, she refers
families to agencies like MCF for assistance with clothing & other necessities. For children who are homeless,
there is often a lack of basic resources such as appropriate clothing, food, transportation & school supplies.
School is one of the few stable & secure places in a homeless child’s life. A student is considered to be home-
less if, due to a lack of housing they must reside in a shelter, motel, vehicle or campground, on the street, in
abandoned buildings or doubled up with relatives or friends due to economic hardship or eviction. When the
school year ended this past June, there were 810 school age children in Macomb County who were identified
as homeless. This staggering figure does not include children ages birth to school age. Thank you for helping
Macomb Charitable supply these children items they need to enter school feeling equipped and presentable.
Macomb Charitable is looking for quality crafters who would be willing to
donate a Christmas craft item (or two or three) for our Christmas Boutique
which will be featured at our Starry Starry Night fundraiser on November 12th.
As with all of our fundraisers, 100% of the profit will be used to help a child in
need. If your heart is touched to help in this way, please contact us vial email at
[email protected] or by phone at 586-232-3473. If your not a
crafter , but know someone who is, would you contact them on our behalf?
Receipts will be given for all donations.

There is a motel on Gratiot housing two less children today. This is thanks in part to the generosity of our
supporters at Macomb Charitable.
Coni and her two boys were victims of domestic violence. After escaping their offender (who is currently
serving time in prison), Coni and her children ended up in a shelter. When Macomb Charitable first assisted
the family, it was to provide rental assistance in the motel. Families are allowed to stay in shelter for only 30
days, after which they must leave. During the course of our “friendship” with this family, we have provided
assistance with school supplies, clothing, food and essentials. We have mentored and encouraged them to
push forward toward their goal of finding a “home”. That dream was realized when MCF was gifted with a
mobile home. After careful deliberation it was determined that Coni and her family would be the perfect
recipients of this gift. Coni’s oldest son has taken on the role of man of the house. He works full time to
assist with rent and food bills while going to school to obtain his High School Diploma. Coni works a
minimum wage job and their combined income and efforts made it an easy decision to “gift” them this home.
As soon as we emailed a wish list for this family, donations poured in. They received everything needed
to begin a new life in this mobile home! Towels, dishes, food, clothing, brand new beds, furniture, a lawn
mower and most life changing of all, a used car were all donated. There were donations of car repairs, gas
cards, food cards, cleaning supplies etc. We at Macomb Charitable are proud to be part of an organization
that MAKES A DIFFERENCE to children in need. We are especially proud of you, our supporters. Indi-
viduals and area groups stepped up and offered their help to this family. We would love to stand before each
of you and personally THANK YOU from the heart for your assistance. Know that we thank God for each
of you in our prayers.
This family will need ongoing encouragement and assistance. We will not “drop the ball” just because
they are relocated. We will continue to mentor and encourage them. We will teach and guide them on
money matters and on how to run a household. We will honor your gifts by doing everything we can to
make sure this remains a success story. Thank you for trusting us to make a difference!
Please read below a letter written by Daniel, the youngest child in this family. Danny is 10 years old, his
letter below is copied just as he wrote it:
Thank you very much for everything you’ve done for me. I can’t explain how
much I love you guy’s and all the awesome school close. And I love that I’m
now living in a safe and fun enviorment. I have made a lot of frends here that I
can hangout with I could not do that in the motel. I have grass to play on and a
great and fast bike. I love having a home and a kitchen table and my own bed. It
is so cool. We even have a frdgerator. Well like I said I can’t say how much I
love you guys see u soon.
P.S. Some day Im going to be like you helping needy people in there time of
need.

charities, we experience a
sharp decline in donations

fit the life of a child living at or below poverty level, please use the form below.

Dear MCF,
I would like to take the time to
thank you for making me and
my 3 kids part of your family.
I have been having a very hard
time making ends meet. I was
laid off and then recently diag-
nosed with a rare medical con-
dition. I have always worked
hard, but this condition is
keeping me from work for the
time being. You have helped
me with my rent and utility bill
and you fed my children when
I could not. There were times
when I felt alone and didn’t
think I had anyone to turn to,
but MCF never fails me.
Words cannot explain how
your help is appreciated. God
bless you all and thanks again
for your love and support.
There are so many ways YOU can make a difference in the life of a child in need. We welcome and encourage group and
individual support. Would YOU consider being an MCF Representative by coordinating an event/project within
your group or neighborhood? Listed below are just a few suggestions on how your family can make a difference!
**Organize a toilet paper drive in your school/neighborhood. **Host a pantry shower at your home and collect feminine
hygiene products, cleaning supplies & toilet paper. **Organize a Giving Tree at your place of employment, your child’s Dance Studio, Sports Team, Scout Club etc..
** Collect food and or gas cards instead of dues at your next monthly meeting or jeans day.
These are just a few suggestions. We encourage you to be creative. Your support would be a blessing. Give us a call, let’s talk it over. We will supply any promotional material
needed. Macomb Charitable: 586-232-3473
