An internship that’s totally bananasWe’ve all been there. You secure an internship, you turn up and there’s a mad scramble around the offi ce to ‘delegate some work to the student’. It all feels like a bit of an afterthought. The Chimpternship - the Hunter’s best digital internship program - aims to change all that and has interns swinging from the trees. The Chimpternship is a structured digital publishing internship that enables participants to hone their writing, editorial, research, eCommerce, digital and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills at Newcastle marketing fi rm Gorilla 360.

If students would like to apply for a Chimpternship the Gorilla 360 team suggest that a traditional resume is not going to propel them to the front of the queue.

“We’re in a creative space, so we’re looking for interns who can demonstrate their ability to be innovative and engaging in their approach,” Director Scott Evans concluded.

Raising Awareness

Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre manager Lee Watts (pictured) invites the community to a free BBQ held from 11am, Friday 5th August during Homeless Persons Week.Mrs Watts said, ‘The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre and the Upper Hunter Homeless Service have partnered to cook a BBQ out the front of the Neighbourhood Centre at 130 Liverpool Street, Scone to highlight and raise awareness of homelessness in the area.”

“While most of us are fortunate enough to enjoy a warm house, there are individuals and families struggling to keep warm or fed. There are homeless people sleeping in our parks or living in their cars and it is these people we try to support through our services.” said Mrs Watts.

“Tenants make up a high percentage of our community and Upper Hunter Homeless service may be able to assist tenants with tenancy questions about maintenance or leases.

“All the community are invited to have a chat or if you would like to drop donate a warm blanket or nonperishable food items they will be appreciated.

“There will be new hand-knitted beanies and jumpers that have been donated and dignity bags distributed on the day.” she said.
