Service Reminder Customization
The Service Reminder is the staple of MechanicNet’s Customer Retention Solution. It’s been designed to have
maximum effectiveness “right out of the box”, so most shop owners don’t need to change a thing to begin seeing
results. Still, there are 9 areas of customization.
1) Shop Logo - send us your logo to create
shop awareness and familiarity
2) Custom Coupon – list coupons,
promotions, or advertise services available
3) Call to Action – highlight special actions
for your customer to take, i.e.
“90 Days Same as Cash”
“Visit our website for our internet deals”
“Ask about our 50,000 mile warranty”
4) Recommended Services – there are 3 choices
• use the manufacturer recommended services
•defineyourowncustomserviceitems
•choosefixed“oilchange”serviceitems.

Optimizing your Marketing Efforts
Push-Pull Marketing. Whether it’s a new term or an old term, most likely you are already doing some form of
it. With MechanicNet you have both push and pull marketing tools. Push tools, like postcards and email, push
communications out to your customers (see diagram 1).
Pull tools, like your website, use content to pull customers to your site and eventually into your shop
(see diagram 2).
Both are effective ways of keeping your brand, and getting your message out, to your customers. You can go a
step further, and increase the effectiveness of both by coordinating these messages. It is easier than you think.
Just make sure that you have the same message on your website, your email and your postcards. The following
diagrams are an example of this practice.

5) My Car Website Login – display your MechanicNet website URL or display your own custom URL .
6) Show Owner Signature – shop owner name or shop manager , titles or shop name
7) Shop Name / Address – standard, but can be changed
8) Personalized Greeting – standard, but can be changed
9) CustomerAddress–fixed
Call 1-877-MECHNET or send an email to [email protected] to customize any of these areas.

Business Editorial
Recently my own local auto shop went of business. Out of curiosity, I probed with the basic questions:
Did gas prices/down economy affect the demand for services? NO
Didarecentlocationmovechangethevisibilityofdrivebytraffic?NO
Did spiraling rent costs affect the bottom line? NO
Did the quality of work go down? NO
It seems that when the shop was recently sold, customers simply didn’t get the same personal attention and
customer service from the new owner. In less than a year, the shop’s loyal customers disappeared.
Developing and maintaining a personal relationship is important. A single person, whether it’s Me or You can have a
direct impact on the business (and not because of a change in business fundamentals) but because of our interaction
with customers.
At MechanicNet we’ve built a set of core tools to improve your interaction with your customers (i.e. Push Pull
Communications, Postcards, Emails, Websites, Reports). But we’ve also built a multi-dimensional customer service
staff (Customer Support, Training, Technical Support, Graphics Support, and soon Advanced Training) to serve you

Cheers to your business!
