1 Cloud Connect
Cloud Connect (CC) allows you to quickly build high-speed, high-quality, andstable networks between Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) across regions andbetween VPCs and data centers off the cloud. With CC, you can build a globallyconnected cloud network with enterprise-class scalability and communicationcapability.
After creating a cloud connection, you can load network instances from differentcloud regions to it to enable communication between those network instances. Anetwork instance can be a VPC you created, a VPC authorized by others, or avirtual gateway you created for access from your on-premises data center. Afteryou load the network instances, configure bandwidth between regions wherenetwork instances reside to ensure communication between them.
Figure 1-1 How CC works
Basic ConceptsVirtual gateway
A virtual gateway is a resource in Direct Connect, and it functions as a router for aconnection to access the cloud.
A connection is a dedicated network connection between a local data center and aVPC. To access the cloud, a virtual interface is also required, which is the entry for

the data center to access the cloud. A virtual gateway connects a virtual interfaceto a VPC so that the data center can access the VPC.
Figure 1-2 How Direct Connect works
Network instance
A network instance is a VPC or virtual gateway that you load to a cloudconnection for network communication.
● You can load VPCs to a cloud connection to enable communications amongVPCs.
● After you load a virtual gateway to a cloud connection, the on-premises datacenter can communicate with one or more VPCs to build a hybrid cloud.
Bandwidth package
A bandwidth package provides bandwidth for communications among networkinstances from different cloud regions. You need to buy a bandwidth package inthe following scenarios:
● Communications among network instances in cloud regions within ageographic region
● Communications among network instances in cloud regions of differentgeographic regions
Bandwidth packages are not required for interworking between network instancesin the same cloud region.
Inter-region bandwidth
An inter-region bandwidth is used for network communication of instances in tworegions. Total inter-region bandwidths cannot exceed the bandwidth you specifywhen you buy the bandwidth package.
In Figure 1-3, a bandwidth package is divided into three inter-region bandwidthsfor communication between the Chinese mainland and Asia Pacific.

Application ScenariosCommunications among VPCs across regions
CC helps you realize secure and reliable private network communications amongVPCs in different cloud regions in addition to improving network topologyflexibility. Figure 1-4 shows the communications among VPCs in different regions. The VPCs can be those of yours or those authorized by others.
Figure 1-4 Communications among VPCs across regions
Communications between on-premises data centers and VPCs in multipleregions
If multiple on-premises data centers need to communicate with the VPCs inmultiple regions, use Direct Connect to connect a data center to a VPC and thenload this VPC, virtual gateways connected to data centers, and other VPCs to acloud connection to build a wholly connected network. Same to communicationsamong VPCs across regions, VPCs can be those of yours or those authorized byothers.

CA UTION
Pay attention to the following constraints when you use CC:● For a cloud connection, CIDR blocks of all network instances must not overlap,
and subnet CIDR blocks must be unique. Otherwise, the communication mayfail.
● When you load a VPC to a cloud connection of the same account and enter asubnet CIDR block in the advanced settings, loopback addresses, multicastaddresses, or broadcast addresses are not allowed.
● In all VPCs that are loaded to a cloud connection, if a NAT gateway is createdin a VPC, you can set default route 0.0.0.0/0 only by entering a custom CIDRblock.

6 Billing
CC establishes a high-speed, stable, and highly available network among VPCsacross regions. By working with Direct Connect, CC also enables your data centerto access VPCs in any region.
To enable communications between network instances in different cloud regions, you need to purchase a bandwidth package. If network instances are in the samecloud region, no bandwidth package is required because they can communicatewith each other by default.
Billing Item
Bandwidth package
NO TE
A cloud connection can have only one bandwidth package bound either within ageographic region or between geographic regions.
Suppose that you have created a cloud connection cc1 and purchased a 50 Mbit/sbandwidth package bandwidthPackge1 within the Chinese mainland. You need to payattention to the following:
1. You cannot bind another bandwidth package to cloud connection cc1 unless you haveunbound bandwidth package bandwidthPackge1 from the cloud connection.
2. If the inter-region bandwidths that you need exceed 50 Mbit/s, increase the bandwidth. For example, if you have configured 30 Mbit/s between CN North-Beijing1 and CN East-Shanghai1 and need to configure 40 Mbit/s between CN East-Shanghai1 and CN East-Shanghai2, increase the bandwidth of the package, no less than 70 Mbit/s.
For details, see Product Pricing Details.
Billing Mode● Prepaid: yearly/monthly
● Postpaid: pay-per-use
NO TE
Currently, pay-per-use billing is only for trial use. CC allows you to submit a serviceticket to apply for enabling this option.

7 Region and AZ
ConceptA region and availability zone (AZ) identify the location of a data center. You cancreate resources in a specific region and AZ.
● Regions are divided from the dimensions of geographical location andnetwork latency. Public services, such as Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), ElasticVolume Service (EVS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Virtual Private Cloud(VPC), Elastic IP, and Image Management Service (IMS), are shared within thesame cloud region. Regions are classified as universal regions and dedicatedregions. A universal region provides universal cloud services for commontenants. A dedicated region provides services of the same type only or forspecific tenants.
● An AZ contains one or multiple physical data centers. Each AZ hasindependent cooling, fire extinguishing, moisture-proof, and electricityfacilities. Within an AZ, computing, network, storage, and other resources arelogically divided into multiple clusters. AZs within a region are interconnectedusing high-speed optical fibers to allow you to build cross-AZ high-availabilitysystems.
Figure 7-1 shows the relationship between regions and AZs.
Figure 7-1 Regions and AZs

HUAWEI CLOUD provides services in many regions around the world. You canselect a region and AZ as needed. For more information, see HUAWEI CLOUDGlobal Regions.
How to Select a Region? When selecting a region, consider the following factors:
● LocationYou are advised to select a region close to you or your target users. Thisreduces network latency and improves access rate. However, Chinesemainland regions provide basically the same infrastructure, BGP networkquality, as well as operations and configurations on resources. Therefore, ifyou or your target users are in the Chinese mainland, you do not need toconsider the network latency differences when selecting a region.– If you or your target users are in Asia Pacific excepting the Chinese
mainland, select the AP-Hong Kong, AP-Bangkok, or AP-Singaporeregion.
– If you or your target users are in South Africa, select the AF-Johannesburg region.
● Resource priceResource prices may vary in different cloud regions. For details, see ProductPricing Details.
How to Select an AZ?When determining whether to deploy resources in the same AZ, consider yourapplications' requirements on disaster recovery (DR) and network latency.
● For high DR capability, deploy resources in different AZs in the same cloudregion.
● For low network latency, deploy resources in the same AZ.
Regions and EndpointsBefore using an API to call resources, specify its region and endpoint. For moredetails, see Regions and Endpoints.
