We've got a motto around here... "Loving People to Jesus." Simply put, we know that only Jesus has the power and grace to transform our lives, and we believe that showing real, compassionate love to everyone we meet is the best way to share the good news of Jesus with our community. Over the next three weeks, we’re going to explore the heart behind this motto. We’ll learn what it means to love people like Jesus, to focus on people instead of programs, and to recognize that Jesus is the answer. Join us in person or online (www.westsidelife.org or our church app) every Sunday at 9am!

Sunday mornings - 10:30a.m., in #601 Wednesday evenings - 7p.m., in #601
College Bible Study--Our college and young adult ministry is going through a new study on the book of Hebrews titled “The Incomparable Christ." Recent high school graduates, college age students and young adults are invited to come explore Hebrews, an amazing book of the Bible that encourages us to stay strong in our commitment to Jesus amidst intense cultural pressure to
back away from our faith. This class meets every Sunday in room #601 at 10:30am.
The Life—TODAY our Youth Ministry will be resuming our Sunday Morning Bible class titled “The Life,” which focuses on what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus in the 21st century. We meet every Sunday at 10:30am in room #604. This class is for all current 7th-12th grade students and their guests. Small Group Dates—Our Fall semester small group dates are 9/22, 10/6, 10/20, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1, and 12/15. The theme for our groups is “The Case for Christ.” We’ll be exploring the evidence that supports our faith, the Bible, and the resurrection of Jesus! If you would like to sign up to host small groups at your home on one of those dates, please contact Bryan Fojtasek or Justin Chase. Wednesday Class—Join us every Wednesday for dinner (5:30pm) and our Youth Ministry class (6:30pm), taught by Justin Chase. We just started a new series titled “EvangePhobia” which will give you all the encouragement and practical training you need to start talking to your friends about Jesus. This week’s challenge was to share your faith with just one other person who doesn’t already have a church home.
The office will be closed for the Labor Day holiday tomorrow, Monday, September 2. We’re Hiring! We are beginning the process of searching for a new full-time Youth Minister to join our staff. If you are interested in being considered for an Advisory Team that will offer feedback on the candidates who apply, please contact Bryan Fojtasek ([email protected]) by Tuesday, September 3. Women of Worship, or W.O.W, will resume Thursday, September 5. Please join us and bring your thoughts and ideas to help plan the 2019-2020 year. There will be a time for fellowship at 9:45am followed by a planning session at 10am. Hope to see you there!
The monthly Men’s Breakfast will resume on Saturday, September 7, from 7-9a.m. in #521. Coffee and fellowship will begin at 7am. and breakfast to follow. All men and their sons are welcome to come eat, fellowship, pray, and spend time together. Please RSVP to David McCarthy ([email protected]).
Westside 101—If you are new to Westside and would like more information about getting involved and taking your next steps, then please join us for a special “Westside 101” reception on Sunday, September 22 at 10:30am in #521. You’ll get a chance to meet our key leaders, hear about our vision for sharing the Gospel in Bakersfield, and discovering ways to connect with a loving church family. Delicious refreshments will be provided! Save the Date! The annual Men’s Retreat is October 11-13 at Sierra Christian Camp for all men, high school age and above.
