Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like atrumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the

descendants of Jacob their sins.

Crie pleine voix, ne te retiens pas, dit le Seigneur.

Comme le son du cor, que ta voix porte loin. Dnonce

mon peuple sa rvolte, aux descendants de Jacob leurs

fautes.

2 For day after day they seek me out;they seem eager to know my ways,

as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not

forsaken the commands of its God.

They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to

come near them.3Why have we fasted, they say, and you have not seenit? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not

noticed?

2Jour aprs jour, tourns vers moi, ils dsirent connatreme que j'attends d'eux. On dirait une nation qui agit

comme il faut, et qui n'abandonne pas le droit proclam

par son Dieu. Ils rclament de moi de justes jugements et

dsirent ma prsence.3Mais ils me disent : A quoi bon pratiquer le jene, si tune nous vois pas ?

Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.4 Your fasting ends in quarreling andstrife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on

high.

5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for

people to humble themselves?Is it only for bowing ones head like a reed and for lying

in sackcloth and ashes?

Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the

LORD?

5Est-ce en cela que consiste le jene tel que je l'aime, le

jour o l'on se prive ? Courber la tte comme un roseau,revtir l'habit de deuil, se coucher dans la poussire, est-ce

vraiment pour cela que vous devez proclamer un jene, un

jour qui me sera agrable ?

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:

to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of

the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every

yoke?7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and toprovide the poor wanderer with shelter when you

see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away

from your own flesh and blood?

9 If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with

the pointing finger and malicious talk,10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of thehungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,

Le jene tel que je l aime, le voici, vous le savez bien :c est

librer les hommes injustement enchans, c'est les dlivrer des

contraintes qui psent sur eux, c'est rendre la libert ceux qui

sont opprims, bref, c'est supprimer tout ce qui les tient

esclaves.

7C'est partager ton pain avec celui qui a faim, c'est ouvrir tamaison aux pauvres et aux dracins, fournir un vtement

ceux qui n'en ont pas, ne pas te dtourner de celui qui est ton

frre.9Si tu cesses chez toi de faire peser des contraintes, deridiculiser les autres en les montrant du doigt, ou de parlerd'eux mchamment,10si tu partages ton pain avec celui qui a faim, si tu donnes manger qui doit se priver, alors la lumire chassera l'obscurit

o tu vis ; au lieu de vivre dans la nuit, tu seras comme en

plein midi.
