3. Serbia: Energy Community pressure Gov to prepare new plan for gas monopoly company Srbijagas

The Energy Community requested from Serbia to submit a new plan for state owned gas monopoly company Srbijagas restructuring by 12th March, since the current one was not in conformity with the EU regula-tions, deputy director of this organization’s Secretariat, Dirk Buschle, said on 21st January. In the Energy Community, they say that Serbia should bring itself into conformity with the European regulations in this sphere by 30th June 2015 and that, if this should not be done, Serbia can expect the initiation of a procedure due to the violation of regulations and, possibly, sanctions.

In the previous year, the most important job in the Serbian biggest ther-mal power plant “Nikola Tesla“ was the capital overhaul of the block A3. The comprehensive job, which was originally envisaged to last for 180 days, will nevertheless be concluded in January 2015. After the end of the overhaul, the first synchronization of the block is planned for 22nd January. The exact date of commissioning of the block will depend on the outside temperature and the electricity consumption.

5. Serbia: EPEX SPOT says there is still no date for the launch of a SEEPEX power exchange

From the European Energy Exchange EPEX SPOT it was announced that there was still no date for the opening of electricity stock exchange (Seepex) in south-eastern Europe, which has being developed in partner-ship with EMS, Serbian transmission system operator.

7. Serbia: New TPP TENT B3 unit, Chinese may win this project as well?

Project envisages construction of new, 3rd unit in existing TPP Nikola Tesla B, with 700 MW output. But, during tender procedure in 2011, none of the eligible candidates submitted bid. Government later announced that the project could be developed through interstate agreement, i.e. without publishing the tender, in order not to waste time.

8. Serbia mining: Procurement of new equipment in lignite coal mines,Sandwick, Kopex and Krupp with dominant market position in new technology supply

Kolubara, Largest lignite mine in Serbia, needs to invest 700-800 million EUR for opening of new, Radljevo field, in order to cover lignite demand of new capacities (TPP Kolubara B and unit 3 in TPP Nikola Tesla B). Be-fore opening of Radljevo field, fields C and G should be opened in order to provide sufficient amounts of lignite for existing and future TPPs.

9. Serbia: Fintel Spa Italy-Serbia Co starts wind park construction with Vestas turbines

The company MK Fintel Wind, a joint venture of MK Group and the Ital-ian company Fintel energy spa, has started construction of a wind farm near Kula, with a power of 9.9 megawatts, and the completion of work on the facility, which will employ 50 workers, is expected by the end of Octo-ber this year.

29. Serbia: Power utility EPS & EU accession process, investments in modernization in power plants

Emissions of harmful gases from large combustion power plants  are regulated by two directives – on large combustion plants (LCPD) and on industrial emissions (IED). According to the provisions of the Treaty Es-tablishing Energy Community, the Large Combustion Plants Directive was to be implemented by 31st December 2017, without an extension for preparing National Emission Reduction Plans. However, in October 2013, the Ministerial Council of Energy Community made the decision to postpone its implementation until the end of 2023.

1. Bosnia: Power utility plans more electricity production in 2015

Thermal power plants this year will have shorter repairs and overhauls. Electric Power Industry of BiH has announced that it plans to increase electricity production by 3.3% to 7.651 GWh in 2015, mainly due to the shorter period for regular repairs in which thermal power plants will not work.

5. Bosnia: New TPP Banovici tender, Abengoa lost race against the Chinese

By the end of this year it will be known who will be the partner of the Dark coal mine (RMU) Banovici for the construction of Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Banovici. 6. Montenegro: TERNA starts the construction of submarine power cable despite all issues

The construction of the submarine cable from Peskara to Tivat, as announced by the Montenegrin media, should have started a few days ago. Romanian company for electricity transmission “Transelectrica” made a profit of 83.3 million euros in 2014, which is 85 percent more than in 2013. The distributor of electricity “Electrica” re-corded a net profit of 63 million euros, which is considerably higher than in 2013.

71. Hungary: MVM to expand to Slovakia power market, take-over of Slovenske elektrarne feasible

The General Director of the Hungarian energy company MVM Csaba Baji said that the nuclear energy will be used in the long run. In addition to the construction of two new blocks of the nu-clear power plant Paks, also is planned a takeover of the 66 per-cent of the Slovak company Slovenské elektrárne. Baji said that this is a good opportunity to cover a part of Slovak electricity market.
