Of all the forms of Social that make our world a little happienone is better than the original kind getting together withfriends and acquaintances to enjoy each others company.

Your Chamber commits to scheduling many monthly activitieso that you may do this often and learn about business oppotunities in and around the Lisle area. Our August calendarbegan with a Lisle Executive Networking Group lunch that wenjoyed at Yerbabuena on August 6. Then there was theBusiness Ledger luncheon on August 8 at the Double Treefeaturing a panel of professionals who presented an array of

information on, Managing a Family Business. The annual membership appreciation picnic hosted by the Chamber was extremely well-attended on August 15 in tLisle Chamber parking lot. Many thanks are offered to all of the businesses andvolunteers who donated the appetizing food, drinks, paper products, tables, chairs

and time to make this such a huge success. Very sincere thanks to Tom Althoffand Wally Nagel for grilling and to Jill Eidukas and Julie LaFond for organizing theevent. More networking occurred at the Lisle Executive Networking Group lunch

August 20 at Jersey Mikes. And to gild the lily, a quite successful Business AfterHours on August 28 at one of our newer members, GC Realty Development. If yowere unable to attend, you missed another extravaganza of food and wonderful nworking.

The third Cruise night of the season opened on August 31 to a nice reception, andthe announcement of a final Cruise Night for this season that will occur on September 21. We hope that you will commit to being at the final Cruise Night of the 201season to express your appreciation of these venues while enjoying the ambiance

    of the evening.

Congratulations to our own Tom Althoff, who was recently appointed to the BoardTrustees of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District.

New businesses welcomed into the Chamber this month are Neary Martin, Inc.,Avant at the Arboretum, Design & Promote and Crosstown Pub and Grill; we lookforward to their business climate perspectives and commitment to Chamber net-working involvement.

The Village of Lisle created a beautiful video of the Lisle French Market that illus-trates the variety of bakery items, abundance of fresh fruit, produce and vegetableand an array of handmade artisan products. Make a commitment to visit the market, enjoy the weekly musical entertainment and shop local!

Your Board of Directors is continuing to Build a Foundation of Commitment to itsmembership. As I said before, possibly the best description of commitment ispersistence with a purpose. Our purpose this month is to host a successful fundraising inaugural event, Alefest: Beer, Barbecue and Blues. We persistently ask fyour continued commitment to volunteer and/or purchase tickets to support this eciting venue on Saturday, September 28, 4:00 8:00PM, at Main and Burlington the old Village Hall site.
