Letter from the Executive Director

Welcome!

We are delighted to have you join us at The Palace during our 2018-2019 season! This fall we’re pleased to bring you some thrilling entertainment.

Arts and Culture make good cities great and we are proud to have a facility like The Palace to present premier entertainment so close to home. While most people know The Palace for our outstanding shows, they may not know that The Palace is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and we need your assistance to realize our mission.

Become a member and support the arts! Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Memberships come with valuable benefits such as access to ticket presales, priority seating, and a concierge phone line, as well as invitations to exclusive and exciting member receptions.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to our season sponsors: Co-Communications, SL Green, the Whittingham Family, and Harman—the “official sound of The Palace Theatre.” Our sponsors are the backbone of our theatre. Without their financial commitment and partnership we would not have the vast programming and ability to bring sensational comedians, musicians, and children’s entertainment to our backyard that makes The Palace so unique. We greatly appreciate the continued support from these wonderful sponsors.

This fall we have a jam packed schedule with entertainment for everyone. From music, comedy and family entertainment, we’ve got everything covered.

“30 Rock” comedian Tracy Morgan returns to The Palace on October 12th, and Brian Regan, whom Entertainment Weekly calls “your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian,” hits the stage on October 18th! America’s Got Talent competitor iLuminate light up the stage with some family fun on September 14th. Grammy Award winning band Casting Crowns rock the stage on September 15th while current members of Billy Joel’s touring band come together to celebrate the music of an icon in Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot on October 26th.

Visit www.palacestamford.org for more information. Create your online account to join our mailing list and connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Be the first to know about upcoming shows and special offers during our new season!

The Palace thanks you for your patronage and support. Enjoy your show today. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Music City Sessions: EveretteFriday, Sept 7 | 8:00pm

Like the great American bands that came before them–new Broken Bow Records duo Everette doesn’t follow trends. Instead, the guys of Everette write what they live, weaving gritty tales of struggle and heartbreak alongside fun-loving stories of escapism and mischief. Often their songs are written while touring–

sometimes during sleepless nights as an odometer tracks the miles or on a day off in a dingy motel room off the beaten path–but always organically and always from the heart.

Everette’s brand of country music is filled with swampy harmonicas and bluesy guitar licks mixed with a knack for melodic hooks not unfamiliar to fans of the 80s and 90s. Citing diverse influences ranging from Tom Petty, The Eagles and Randy Travis to Ray Charles, Michael Jackson and John Mayer, Everette’s honest and relatable music exudes a crossover appeal that would have fans singing along at Bonnaroo as well as at CMA Music Fest.

Everette often describes its brand as “bonfire music” because of its communal nature, which relates directly to the Country music genre. “It’s the same thing we love about Country music and Country radio,” says Brent.

“Just like everyone’s involved at a bonfire jam,” says Anthony. “When we’re on stage we don’t want any separation between us and the audience. We want our shows to be an experience. We write songs about us, but they’re really about everyone.”

atHome Magazine’s A list awardsWednesday, Sept 12 | 5:30pm

The A-list Awards celebrates the best in interior design, architecture and landscape design in Fairfield County. Winners are selected by a panel of nationally recognized judges, all experts in their fields. The event features an awards presentation plus cocktails, hors d’ouevres, and networking with some of the area’s top designers, architects and landscape professionals, and builders along with at home readers and design enthusiasts.

iLuminateFriday, Sept 14 | 8:00pm

Come with us on an action-filled journey of light and sound as we join a clique of twenty somethings who thrive to the beat of life in a city of glowing colors and heart-pounding musical tempos.

The town’s Cop is our narrator. He is a swift Bboy who keeps the peace with agile flips and grounded steps. Ali, our featured gal, is a beautiful hip-hop dancer that is happiest among her dance community, especially Starlight, her BFF and ‘70s queen of funk. Hoping to impress Starlight is our man with the freshest musicality, Househead. He always has the crew’s back, so it’s not good to be on his bad side. Darius, a sly yet highly charged character, is Ali’s ex-boyfriend who (not so peacefully) tries to win back Ali’s heart.

Our hero Jacob is a shy, young artist with an out-of-this-world secret–a magical paintbrush with the ability to turn his artistic imaginings into living, breathing reality. While he’d like nothing more than to lock himself in his apartment with his paintbrush and his easel, he’s somehow managed to find himself in love with Ali. While she loves him too, she often has to beg him to come out dancing.

Our story starts on the fateful night that Jacob finally follows Ali out clubbing. As feared, his dance moves fall flat, despite encouragement and direction from his group of friends. Poor Jacob takes to the sidelines, sullenly watching his love in the arms of better dancers than himself. Especially Darius, who is quite the show off. In a moment of desperation, Jacob decides to use his magic paintbrush to create amazing Robots and a whimsically dancing Crony to win back his girlfriend’s attention. Big mistake.

While the friends cheer on Jacob’s impressive new tricks, Darius has eyes only for that paintbrush. He wants it and has no qualms about using violence and trickery to get his hands on it. Before long, Jacob, Ali, and their gang of friends are in serious trouble. Darius’ every thought crawls into reality, bent on destruction and chaos. With magic and power on his side, Darius creates a special portal and takes Ali away with him into another world, securing the passage with a coded lock.

Jacob’s Robots try to crack the portal’s code but cannot figure it out. How will Ali be saved and the paintbrush be returned to Jacob?! Can YOU help us unlock the portal? Our only chance lies in the hands of one willing audience member!

Music, art, and the technological magic of iLuminate bring you a story of adventure and romance conveyed by array of dance styles from contemporary to popping to breaking expressed through a glowing visual design. All this, perfectly choreographed to popular and classic music by artists like Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, James Brown, Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, LMFAO, The Wanted, and Sam Smith.

Casting CrownsSaturday, Sep 15 | 8:00pm

Casting Crowns is made up of seven Christ-followers committed to sharing the gospel with the world through music and ministry. The local church has been the base for Casting Crowns’ music since their label debut release in 2003. With more than 10 million records sold and the title of Billboard’s top-selling act in Christian music since 2007, it’s still where the music is created. Mark Hall and his bandmates–Juan and Melodee DeVevo, Megan Garrett, Brian Scoggin, Josh Mix and Chris Huffman–continue to work in ministry in their respective churches.

The local church is the heartbeat of the band and the songs are an outpouring of that. The Very Next Thing, Casting Crowns’ latest offering, is a collection of intimate songs as well as upbeat, fresh sounding tracks with impactful lyrics centered around identifying and acting on what’s right next to you.

Casting Crowns has produced some of the most compelling songs of this generation. Songs like “Voice of Truth,” “East to West,” “Lifesong,” “Until the Whole World Hears,” “Courageous” and “Thrive.” On The Very Next Thing, the band continues to encourage and inspire believers with songs that help strengthen their relationship with God.

Danny Gokey: The Hope Encounter TourSunday, Sep 30 | 7:00pm

GRAMMY® nominee, Dove Award winner, and Capitol recording artist, Danny Gokey is gearing up for his first-ever headline tour with this fall’s Hope Encounter featuring GRAMMY® nominee Tauren Wells and breakout artist Riley Clemmons.

“It’s been a dream of mine since American Idol to headline my own major tour,” says Gokey. “That platform opened my eyes to the power of mixing hope with entertainment. Hearing a message of hope at just the right time can truly make an

impact in someone’s life. Getting this opportunity is a dream come true! I love touring, being with fans, and seeing first-hand how the music can encourage people in a time in our society where hope (mixed with a little fun) is so desperately needed.”

Gokey became a favorite of millions of fans as a Top 3 finalist on Season 8 of American Idol. His first album, My Best Days, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. Since then, the Wisconsin native has celebrated a series of #1 album debuts, including his first award-winning holiday album, Christmas Is Here, as well as singles including the recently Gold-certified “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” and “Hope In Front of Me.” Gokey’s latest album, Rise, reached #1 on the Billboard Top Christian Album chart and garnered his first Grammy nomination. Its title track, marked his third, multi-week, multi-chart #1 single.

up special, Staying Alive, which is now streaming globally on Netflix. Morgan is also currently starring in and executive producing his TBS show The Last O.G. Morgan was selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the 2016 class.

Brian ReganThursday, Oct 18 | 7:30pm

Critics, fans, and fellow comedians agree: Brian Regan is one of the most respected comedians in the country with Vanity Fair calling Brian “the funniest stand-up alive,” and Entertainment Weekly calling him “your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian.” Having built his 30-plus year career on the strength of his material alone, Brian’s non-stop theater tour continuously fills the most beautiful venues across North America, visiting close to 100 cities each year.

Brian premiered his seventh hour of comedy, the Netflix special, Brian Regan: Nunchucks And Flamethrowers, on November 21, 2017. This is the first special in a two-special deal with Netflix, joining Brian with Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and others in multi-special deals with the leader in worldwide streaming. Brian’s second Netflix special is planned for release in 2019.

Taking a leap into the acting world, director Peter Farrelly personally cast Brian in his new TV series, Loudermilk, on The Audience Network. Loudermilk premiered to rave reviews on October 17, 2017, with Brian earning accolades in the role of Mugsy, a recovering addict who is estranged from his family. Brian will shoot the second season of Loudermilk this summer.

David Feherty “Live Off Tour”Thursday, Oct 25 | 7:30pm

How do you describe the offbeat antics of David Feherty? The New York Times called him “a cross between Oprah Winfrey and Johnny Carson.” With a sharp wit and irreverent style, the professional golfer-turned-golf analyst, talk show host, and sports broadcaster has made a name for himself as one of the most hilarious and irrepressible personalities in golf.

Of Feherty’s live one-man show, Golf Digest said: “Uncensored and unhinged, and worth the price of admission. It really was stupendous.” The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette raves, “David

Feherty was uproariously funny. It was two hours of zaniness and madcap storytelling. People were coming out of their seats with laughter."

VIP Meet and Greet will take place at 6:30pm and includes a copy of David Feherty's book which he will be signing.

Mike DelGuidice & Big ShotFriday, Oct 26 | 8:00pm

After 18 years of playing Billy Joel’s music in his band Big Shot, Mike DelGuidice now lives a dream come true. In October of 2013, Billy Joel heard Mike sing, and then hired him on the spot to join his band full time. And now you can see Mike on tour with Billy Joel all over the U.S. & world in major arenas and stadiums including every month at the iconic Madison Square Garden.

On Billy Joel’s recent SiriusXM Channel you can hear Billy talking about Mike and how much he sounds just like him–“That’s me...I know my voice...That’s a tape...but it was this guy... Mike DelGuidice.”-Billy Joel

Mike’s extraordinary band BIG SHOT include other current long time legendary members of Billy Joel’s touring band: Tommy Byrnes (guitar) and Chuck Burgi (drums). The band is well known and respected for providing a show of Billy Joel’s song book packed with hit after chart-topping hit, (and some album cuts for the die hard Billy Joel fan) in a high energy, interactive stage performance. On any given night they will also astonish you with renditions of songs by Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Beatles, Journey, and others.

The other members of the band—John Scarpulla, Carmine Giglio, and Nick Dimichino—also have impressive resumes: working, recording and touring with Hall & Oats, Michael Bolton, Diana Ross, LeAnn Rimes, Nine Days, Huey Lewis, Tower of Power, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, a bunch of Broadway shows including Billy Joel’s ‘Movin Out’ and a lot more.
