Fall Concert inPlainfield: November12

Meet NJIO! Whether you're a memberor a friend of NJIO, wethought it would be fun tohighlight different membersof the orchestra in a newseries we're calling"Humans of NJIO," modeledafter the popular "Humansof New York" blog. Staytuned for this series on theNJIO Facebook page!

 The Chamber Music Workshops in June and July provided the opportunityfor musicians to join chamber groups and learn in four short weeks toperform music under the guidance of professional coaching. 

 The Chamber Music Workshops and the Summer String Studio helpedmusicians keep in musical shape over the summer.

 If you're not planning a lengthy vacation next year, make sure you keep us inmind for your summer plans!

 

Come to the Open House Rehearsals on September 7 &14!  At the beginning of the season, NJIO will hold two open house rehearsals onSeptember 7 and 14.  Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to joinone or all of our orchestras during these rehearsals.  It’s the start of a newconcert period and the music is new to everyone.  Come get the feel of theorchestra and see why the musicians love being a part of the NJIO family! Prelude Ensemble, an ensemble intended for beginning strings, rehearses4:30-5:30 pm. Intermezzo Orchestra, an intermediate-level full symphonyorchestra (strings, winds, brass, and percussion), rehearses from 5:45-7:00pm and Symphony Orchestra, the more advanced symphony orchestra,rehearses from 7:15-9:30 pm. For more information about the Open House rehearsals, email Mary BethSweet at   or call  [email protected] (908) 603-7691

2017-2018 Program Announced!  Can't wait for a new season of fantastic musical programming?  Neither canwe!  Here's a sneak peek at NJIO's four concert programs this year: Our concert season will kick off in November in Plainfield with folk andpastoral works, including Brahms' Hungarian Dances and Beethoven's"Pastorale"  , as well as NJIO's Young Artist ConcertoSymphony No. 6Competition winner, Daniel Seog, performing the beautiful Tchaikovsky Violin

.Concerto in D Major December brings the popular annual Family Holiday Concert and InstrumentPetting Zoo, as well as a performance by second place ConcertoCompetition winner Eilene Lee.  NJIO's winter concert, in February at Summit Middle School, will feature the NJIO Festival Chorus, accompanying NJIO in a performanceof Coleridge-Taylor's extraordinary  .  Also on theHiawatha's Wedding Feastprogram is Smetana's  , an important expression of Bohemian identity.Moldau The final concert of the season in May, also performed in Summit, willinclude the grand 19th-century works Saint-Saens'   and VonSymphony No. 1Suppe's  an operetta loosely based on Pushkin'sOverture to "Pique Dame," short story "Queen of Spades." You won't want to miss this exciting season!  Invite your friends to ourconcerts, or invite them to come to our open house rehearsals to play withus! Follow   to see the season flyer on our website.this link

 

We Want You - to Join Us for Our 24th Season!  Returning members andnewcomers: we are still acceptingregistrations for the 2017-18season!  To register, go to   and click on the word "Join" (at the top).  Thewww.njio.orgsecond item listed there is "Membership Registration Form".  You will seethat you have a choice to "Pay by Credit Card" or "Pay by Check".  Click onyour choice and complete the form.  The process is fairly simple and shouldonly take you about five minutes. If you pay by credit card there is a $10 convenience fee ($5 for those whoare signing up for "Outreach Only" or "Flute Choir Only").  The rates are $340 for an individual and $235 for a senior. If you have any questions or need help with registering, contact AdministratorMary Beth Sweet by email at   phone at [email protected] or by (908)
