Hi There! My name is Hanna Anderson and I will be the new Event Designer
for The Modern Edge Events & Catering company. I am so happy to be here
and I look forward to working with as many of you as I can!
What are you having the most trouble
with when planning events?
I’ve asked brides and event organizers what they have the most trouble in and
the responses are rolling in with concerns about timelines and organization.
Why is this a problem? A lot of clients leave the planning solely up to the event
planner, which creates a big disconnect. It is essential to be involved in the
planning of your event. How else can you guarantee you’ll get what you want
in the time that you need.
What we do to solve the problem: Create a personal timeline and match it to
the event planner timeline; creating a middle ground for what both think is
best for the event. I highly recommend checking out Pinterest to get an idea
of what day-of coordinator entails and keeping it organized in a tabbed
binder. It’s more than you think! Try to map out as many details for the event
at the beginning of the planning process, and ask any and every question that
comes to mind. You’ve heard that no question is a stupid question, and it’s so
true! Keep with it. Check in weekly, or monthly, depending on how far in
advance the event is set! Try the app Wedding Happy for wedding planning.

Featured event of August:
This Bohemian Style Picnic by the Lake was the perfect end to the summer.
Wedding Whatnots:
Humble tiers and topper-less cakes have officially arrived.
Rather than adorning cakes with fondant designs or sugar
flowers, couples are opting for a clean, textured look,
dressed up with small bunches of blooms or greenery.
Instead of completely bare tiers, translucent cakes have a
thin veil of frosting with just a bit of the cake showing
through. Dress it up with flavorful drizzles of caramel or
ganache. As for size, bigger isn’t always better. Think small.
Couples are still opting for the classic cake cutting, but
they're also supplementing it with fun, unique treat
alternatives come dessert time.
Long gone are the days of the ugly bridesmaid dress that
you can “shorten and wear it again!” {Has anyone
actually done this?}
Textured and fresh fabrics are making a splash in the
wedding scene this year. A welcome relief as the ghosts
of dresses past can stop adding to their inventory and
haunting me at night. Velvet, lace and silk are all fun
materials to give your bridesmaids extra confidence for
that long walk down the aisle, and you the look of
ultimate sophistication and grace.
As fall is playing hide & seek, deep colors such as emerald
green, navy blue and cranberry are taking precedence
over the lavender theme of this past spring.
Corporate Corner:
Three Fresh Ideas for Corporate employee bonding:
-Volunteer- Volunteering always brings out one’s good side and it’s a great ice breaker to get to know the girl in
cubical 3D that eats popcorn every day for lunch. It feels good to help those less fortunate. Try collecting items for
Hurricane Harvey, Houston needs as much help as they can get. They’re looking for clothes, sleeping necessities,
hygienic materials and so much more. Visit the Red Cross website to figure out what else!
-Trampoline Park- Trampoline parks like Sky Zone, Altitude and Urban Air have become prevalent ways for kids to
have fun and hang out with friends. But why can’t the same be true for adults? With offerings like dodgeball and
basketball games while bouncing, trampoline parks are a great way for your office to embrace their inner child and
have fun getting to know one another.
-Go to a Brewery and Tasting Night Out- You can’t beat beer and our food! Come by our brewery night when we pair
up with Westminster Brewery in late September (you’ll be the first to know when date is selected) for the greatest
pairing since PB&J! You’ll get a five course meal from The Modern Edge perfectly paired with five brews hand
selected by the brewery. Tickets are only $75.00 and the memories are worth it! You’ll be getting that promotion in
no time! Bring your significant other and double it as a date night. SCORE.
Grab a deli buffet or a box lunch for all the employees before you go! Box lunches are only $11.00 per person and
include a sandwich, from our hand selected array of choices, on a brioche bun, pasta salad, an apple, and boulder
chips, throw in a cookie for an extra $1.50 to
satisfy that sweet tooth and get back to
bonding.
As much as one loves their job, one loves her
lunch more. Thanks Boss Man!

The “thinking small” trend also makes an
appearance at happy hour. Finger foods and
drinks make socializing easy and fun. You get to
adventure with these mini snacks wherever you
go while enjoying your time and making
memories! Go on girl; get down on the dance floor
with that mini chili releno girrrrrrrrrl!

DECORATIVE SPOON WITH AN ORIGINAL FALL RECIPE!
