(Thunderhawk Gathering of Information for Friday) September 3, 2021 Hopewell Families: Another week under our belts and students should hopefully be getting into a rhythm with their day. This weekend is a good time to sit down with your student and go over Home Access Center and Canvas. Classes should all have grades in them and be seen in HAC. Canvas is a great place to see upcoming assignments, long term projects, and class resources. Virtual Curriculum Night Our Virtual Curriculum Night was released yesterday to view. The nice thing about having it virtually is that you can view it on your own time. If you begin your visit at https://lakota.instructure.com/courses/24012/pages/hopewell-jr-open-house-virtual it will take you through important information, and direct you through the building. Use your student’s schedule and follow the classes by selecting the classrooms. By doing so, that will take you to each teacher’s Canvas page and a welcome video for each. While we would love nothing more than to have you here in person, we tried to create an experience close to it. MAP Testing Students should have wrapped up their MAP testing today in Language Arts. This data allows students to see where their Reading and Math skills currently are and where they can work directly to keep getting better. It provides teachers with specific information on how to support student learning no matter where their strengths lie in those areas. We will test again in the Winter for some and the Spring for everyone to help evaluate how we are growing. Color Run Students were given paperwork last week about getting involved in the after-school Color Run September 24th. This is a great event for our students to get involved in as well as a major fundraiser for PTSO. Please ask your student about that paperwork and get that turned into their THawk teacher so they can be involved. I can promise that it will be a blast!! It’s been an adjustment this year in getting our students back involved in activities and a seven bell day and at the same time, operating under our Covid protocols. Students and teachers are both working to make all of this feel normal. I appreciate everyone’s grace, flexibility, and patience. We can continue to have the cool activities, such as school dances, kids at sporting events, and Color Runs, by masking up the right way and following those protocols of daily health self-assessment. Have a great 3 day weekend!! Jeff Rouff

September 3, 2021 Hopewell Families:

Another week under our belts and students should hopefully be getting into a rhythm with their day.

Mindfulness is a tool that can be used for stress reduction and self-acceptance not just in teens, but for all ages. Emotional regulation plays a big part in how students perceive certain situations. Practicing mindfulness can help strengthen focus and diminish symptoms of anxiety.
