Silent Prayer
Prayer
The Prayer Jesus taught Us
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

Second Mile Giving For September
The Mental Health Association of Frederick County has served the community as a
private, non-profit organization since 1965. A leader in creating services that
respond to the changing mental health needs in our community, the Mental Health
Association of Frederick County is a place where people can be heard and receive
support. Their programs aspire to promote positive mental health and offer not just
education, but the support and compassion needed to make real and lasting changes
in the lives of those they serve. Your support enables them to provide suicide/crisis
intervention, professional therapy services on a sliding scale basis, trained advocates
for children in the foster care system, and child abuse prevention programs that
strengthen and empower Frederick’s children and families.
“Whoever gives to the poor lends to the Lord, and they
will be repaid in full.” – Proverbs 19:17
No child should be hungry, especially in this community.
Also, no child should be shamed for being poor. Many
times, children face both, due to no fault of their own.
So, I’ve decided to do something about it.
If you want to help me with a new project I am undertaking to make sure children are
able to eat, without the possibility of shaming due to their socio-economic situation,
please contact me in the church office at

Food Bank Items for September
Back to school days! Kids can’t learn when they are hun-
gry; they do much better in school on full stomachs and good
nutrition all day, every day. Yes, some get free breakfast
and lunch at school, but what about after school and the
evening meal? What about weekends and school holidays?
The Glade Valley Food Bank addresses this need for
families in our community.
Items most urgently needed are peanut butter and tuna; these shelves are bare.
Other places where the shelves are starting to look empty include macaroni and
cheese, Hamburger Helper, canned fruit, boxed potatoes (mashed, scalloped, etc.),
soup, canned peas, cereal, spaghetti/pasta, spaghetti sauce, baked beans.
The Guild needs your garden’s extra red,
green and yellow bell peppers to freeze for
the pepper slaw for our November 1st & 2nd
church dinners. We could also use like new
large paper grocery bags for the dinners.
The Guild will be selling 12 inch Pine Christmas wreaths. The price
will be $20 (ribbon only) or $25 (decorated). Orders need to be
received by October 15th. Please contact Chris Torbeck if you would
like to place an order.
