KCSD proudly welcomes two new principals this school year. Melissa Jamieson joined John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Kathleen Sickles joined Edward R. Crosby Elementary School over the summer break. Both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the district with forward-thinking and ambitious goals for their schools.
Kathleen Sickles, a KCSD graduate before studying at SUNY New Paltz and Massachusetts College, started her career as a 3rd grade teacher at St. Joseph’s School in Kingston. She transitioned to Highland Elementary School serving as the Assistant Principal for the last four years. Principal Sickles is now back at Crosby Elementary where she once was a student herself. “I feel like I’m home,” she stated.

MeagherThe Kingston High School Myron J. Michael building will be memorialized as part of the Second Century Capital Project. The 1937 building cornerstone will be used as the foundation for a New York State Historical Marker commemorating the building, architects and Principal Michael. The historical marker will be posted outside the new KHS Salzmann building entrance plaza when production is completed.
Memorializing MJM
Construction has commenced at the Meagher School building, transforming the space into a new public education prekindergarten and administrative offices for KCSD. One of the Pre-K rooms in the building was previously completed and has welcomed Parents-of-Preschoolers (POP) and their children for “POP Group” over the past year. POP Group was started to introduce preschool-aged children and their families to the new space, participate in various educational activities and meet the administrators who are developing the programming for the future Center. The group will meet again in the Spring of 2019. Schedule to be announced.
