VOLUME 52 NUMBER 35 August 28, 2016
Today we will eat lunch together (parents and youth), have a devo and go bowling following. We had to postpone this from last week. We encourage all youth and parents to join us for these ac-tivities today. We tried to reach all of you by phone and if we missed you, we did make the effort. Please help us to continue to build the youth group and make it vibrant. We want to encourage all of you to participate if you are not do-ing so at present. We encourage you to begin attending Bible Class now that school has started. It is easy for us to get out of the routine. Remember to put God first. We hope you had a great week as you started back to school. Please make the effort to come on Wednesday nights
and Sunday as we study together. BEN

Pr
Promotion in Bible class took place today. We appreciate all of those
who come to Bible class and participate. This would be a great time to
make it a point to be in every Bible class and worship service of the
church. You will be made stronger as a result of your participation.
Our teachers spend a lot of time in preparing for the classes each week.
Children’s Bible Hour will also begin soon. On September 11th, Chil-
dren’s Bible Hour and Toddler’s Bible Hour will resume. We have a lot
planned for the Autumn months. We hope that parents will take advan-
tage of the opportunity to have your children in classes where they are
taught more about God and His Word. School started this last week
and everyone got back in the routine. Please make the effort to get in
the routine of coming to Bible class and worship. We continue to have
numerous visitors at our services. Several Bible studies continue to be
conducted with those not members of the church family here. God con-
tinues to bless the Crockett Rd. congregation. The love and concern of
others in the church here is most unique. May that love continue to
abound. Today following the worship service, the youth and parents
will meet for lunch, a devo and bowling adventure. Thanks to Ben and
Keri for making plans. The Bible Hour workers will also meet in an-
other location in the building for lunch and planning session for the les-
sons this Fall. We are grateful to Audrey, and Amanda for helping to
organize the program this year. Thanks for being here this morning.
We hope to see you tonight at 6 P.M. DAN

“JUST KEEP QUIET OR SILENT”
The word silence or its equivalent is found
often in your Bible. We often sing a song that
has this word within it which is taken from Ha-
bakkuk 2:20. It is here that men are told to
"keep silence before him." There is much more
than just being quiet in the assembly where God
is worshiped. Take a look at some cases of si-
lence that may be either good or bad. There is a
silence that is suitable. There are no doubt
times when it is best to say nothing. Was this
the case with the friends of Job? You know
they came and sat with Job for seven days and
"none spake a word unto him: for they saw that
his grief was very great" (Job 2;13). It seems
the only fitting thing is to just say nothing.
They could, however, just be there to let him
know of their concern and sympathy for him.
Isn't this the case when death occurs and we
just go to be with those who have suffered the
loss? Though we may not say a thing, just being
there is enough. There is a silence which is self-
ish. Have there not been times when a word of
thanks ought to have been uttered? Have there
not been times when words of encouragement
needed to be stated? Yet, there was not heard a
single word. Wasn't this the case with those
nine lepers that should have turned back to give
thanks for their healing (Luke 17:17-18)?
There is a silence that is sinful. Yes, there is a
time to be silent; but there is also a time when
such would be sinful. Wouldn't that be the case
if you saw a person about to be killed but would
not warn them? Wasn't there a time when the
apostles were told not to speak or teach in the
name of Jesus (Acts 4:18-19)? Would it not
have been a sin for them to just say nothing?
After all, they were compelled by the Lord's
commandment to preach the gospel. To be si-
lent in the face of threats would indeed be sin-
ful DAN

dies Visual Aid Brigade will begin meeting on

ing we hope you will begin this year.
