Highlights from July Meeting
Introductions: started with a quick introduction of each person to the group.
Meeting Times: the second Saturday every other month at 9:30 – 12:00 was the best time for everyone who attended, but there is a classroom conflict with the 2014 classes scheduled, so this subject will need to be readdressed in September.
Demonstrations: July’s meeting was focused on making authentic cartridge and bullet blanks.
Projects: polymer clay tube samples were shared with members to practice turning clay.
Highlights from July Meeting
Discounts: Woodcraft offered 10% off to members on the day of the meeting.
Future Promotions: Woodcraft suggested we put our meeting announcements in their weekly email.
Dessert: ate brownies (LOL)!
Brett’s Demo of Bullet PenBrett Ransom aka “hard hat” did an excellent demonstration of how he solders his cartridge (bullet) pen together.
Brett’s Tip: Using a torch instead of a soldering iron
reduces any scorching to the bullet.
Fred’s Demo of Bullet PenFred Wissen aka “PtownSubbie” did an excellent demonstration of how he glues his cartridge (bullet) pen together.
Fred’s Tip: Using a form of lubrication (WD40, Cutting Oil)
when drilling the casing and bullet will make things a whole lot easier.
Bullet Pen Making Quick Tips
Use torch vs soldering iron (if soldering) Use lubrication in drilling 4” end of nib to end of twist Does not take much CA Glue (if using glue) Much easier if doing several at one time Have sharp drill bits A little patience goes a long ways
