September 2013 Dear Friends, Welcome to the September edition of On the Move. September is the beginning of my favorite time of the year. It begins with the Labor Day holiday marking the unofcial end of summer. The temperatures tend to cool, football games begin to appear on my television and my calendar, and numerous activities resume at churches after a few months of summer respite. Schools tend to start in August, but school activities ramp up in September. This September is especially exciting at Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF). LCEF is demonstrating its interest in and support of young people by introducing the Y.I. (Young Investors) Club. All too often we as parents and grandparents take it for granted that our children or grandchildren will somehow learn about the need to save for the future. Our churches often take young people for granted when it comes to educating them in the principles of Christian stewardship. Both topics are at the center of the Y.I Club. This issue of On the Move is dedicated to the introduction of a savings and education program designed especially for young people. September is just the beginning of the Y.I. Club – more information will be forthcoming in subsequent months. This September also marks an important time for several of our area congregations. We have several congregations that are partnering with LCEF Ministry Support in an effort to generate nancial commitments for several exciting building projects. Every dollar raised in these efforts is one less dollar that has to be borrowed and repaid (with interest). Please join with me in praying that God richly blesses these efforts so that more can be reached with the Gospel. Finally, this September will also mark the beginning of three years of service for all who were elected at the recent 65 th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. It is our prayer that these men and women will serve faithfully and with a zeal to do all possible to assist the many ministries of our church body in reaching out to a world that hungers for the Truth that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Thank you for your past, present, and future support of the ministry of Lutheran Church Extension Fund. In HIS Service, Dennis Klussman LCEF Vice President On the Move

September 2013 Dear Friends, Welcome to the September edition of On the Move. September is the beginning of my favorite time of the year. The temperatures tend to cool, football games begin to appear on my television and my calendar, and numerous activities resume at churches after a few months of summer respite. Y.I. Club Grows with Your Child With an investment of just $25 in a Y.I. StewardAccount®, you can help your child save for the future and learn lifelong stewardship concepts through special activities, games, and fun!

The minimum is low, making it easy to start a Y.I. investment. As young investors receive cash gifts from family and friends for birthdays and holidays, earn an allowance and begin their first jobs, they can let it grow in their Y.I. StewardAccount®. As a member of the Y.I. Club, students can also earn “extra credit” in the investment for good grades and community service, keeping them active and engaged in saving and stewardship. Check out Y.I. Club at lcef.org or call 800-843-5233. LCEF is a nonprofit religious organization; therefore, LCEF investments are not FDIC-insured bank deposit accounts. This is not an offer to sell investments, nor a solicitation to buy. LCEF will offer and sell its securities only in states where authorized. The offer is made solely by LCEF’s Offering Circular. Investors should carefully read the Offering Circular, which more fully describes associated risks. LCEF StewardAccount® access features provided through UMB Bank n.a. The StewardAccount is not available to investors living in South Carolina.

Did You Know? Did you know that the Y.I. Club also includes a stamp program? To encourage students already participating in the K.I.D.S. Stamp program to continue saving, LCEF is folding the stamp program into the Y.I. Club. The concept remains the same: stamps purchased still serve as credit to an investment. The $1 stamps are added to the special Y.I. stamp sheet, and then mailed to LCEF to start a Y.I. StewardAccount® for the child. This provides schools and congregations the opportunity to teach stewardship with the Y.I. Stamp program, and families will have fun being able to add to a child’s investment a stamp at a time! Call 800-842-233 or visit lcef.org for more information.
