Archdiocese of Newark Announces Phase 3 Directives Allowing Public Sunday Masses with

Restrictions Starting June 21

As part of Phase Three, the following protocols will be observed:

• Based on state public official guidelines, the maximum number of participants for public Masses, Funerals, Baptisms, and Weddings remains at 150 participants in total.

• All the directives on social distancing, wearing of masks, and sanitizing from Phase One and Phase Two remain in force.

• Cardinal Tobin continues to dispense the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.

• Parishes will continue to livestream Mass so that those unable to attend may maintain a spir-itual connection with their local parish. Although directives for reopening have been provided to all parishes, it continues to remain the responsibility and decision of each pastor to determine the process and timing for safe reo-pening of their individual parish.

The Archdiocese will continue to monitor the expert guidance of public health officials and federal and state public officials, who have cautioned not to

rush into reopening churches to the faithful before manageable safety protocols can be put in place. The Archdiocese remains committed to the health and well-being of its clergy and staff, the faithful,

and the public.

ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK LAUNCHES UNPRECEDENTED FUNDRAISING EFFORT IN SUPPORT OF COMMUNITY PARISHES

During Pandemic, Cardinal Tobin Encourages Parishioners to Aid Local Churches and Ministries

Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R, Archbishop of

Newark, has announced an unprecedented fundrais-ing initiative specifically aimed at supporting contin-ued outreach and archdiocesan parish communities

during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The effort, coordinated with GoFundMe, a global

online fundraising platform, will enable parishioners to provide direct support to local churches throughout

this challenging time. A dedicated website, at www.rcan.org/parishsupport, has been established

for this program.

October: Month of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary

During the month of October, we honor our Blessed Mother. Blessed Mother’s

Altar traditionally has been decorated by parishioners.

The Altar needs two arrangements each week: $50 each.

Parishioners may donate flowers for the altar in the church for any Sunday except during Advent and

Lent. Please contact the rectory for information

Vespers and Benediction

Eucharistic Adoration. In particular, we will have

Here is some information on the Amen Foundation:

“The Amen Foundation is a Catholic, tax-exempt,

non-profit organization founded in 1990. It is based in Washington DC, and run by dedicated volunteers and missionaries. Its mission is to promote, support, and

strengthen Catholic religious vocations and ministries. The Foundation works through partnership and targeted assistance to seminaries, convents, religious formation centers and institutes, as well as ministry centers. Many

of the beneficiaries over the years are non-English speaking, who would otherwise not have had meaning-

ful contacts with the American Church.

Hundreds of missionaries who have benefited from the Foundation’s mission now serve our Church and society

on five continents, especially in Africa. They reach out through pastoral ministries, basic

education, basic healthcare, food security, human rights issues, and other social justice ministries.

The Amen Foundation has pioneered the process of exchange and sharing of ministry personnel and

resources between several American dioceses and religious communities and the African Churches.

You may learn more on our website: www.amenfoundation.org.

Because many of missionaries work under very harsh conditions around the world, some of them often need

assistance for their work and outreach among the world’s poor. The ongoing effects of the

Covid-19 pandemic is so devastating to our mission outreach. So many missionaries are stranded in isolation

at a time that coming together is no longer desirable. The Amen Foundation has a special ministry of support

and hospitality to respond to these needs. May God bless you for sharing in our story today.”
