I f you’ve ever been to a gala event in the Hamptons, chances are you’ve never questioned your safety or security. Someone else has, though. Founded in 2007 by Deana Wilson, Wilson & Associates Security Consulting, LLC is a labor of love. When Deana’s husband, William, was appointed chief of police for South- ampton Village, she convinced him not to sell his established security company, which already had established deep roots in the community. “I am one of the only women in a male-dominated industry, and I have thoroughly enjoyed overcoming the hurdles that this entails,” says Deana “Luckily, I now work hand in hand with my husband who is retired. His 27 years of experience in law enforcement make clients feel very comfortable." Between the two of them, they call the most elite party and event planners their clients. From Super Saturday to Niche Media, Bridgehampton Polo Club, Southampton Bath & Ten- nis Club, Rogers Memorial Library, Vh1 Save the Music, Ar- tHamptons, Empire State Pride Agenda, Group for the East End and many private clients that they simply can’t talk about, they are making sure the crème de la crème doesn’t sour. SLM: It's every little girl's dream to own a security company, right? Seriously though, what did you think you when you grew up? DW: I always wanted to do something in the medical pro- fession. I was attending school to become a nurse. Whoever was plotting my path had a different plan for me, and it was the right one, luckily. SLM: People always have high expectations when it comes to security. Assumedly those expectations are even higher in the Hamptons - what can a clients expect from the planning process? DW: I am completely hands on from the very first meeting until the conclusion. Clients want to speak to the owner, they don’t want to talk to a secretary, and I don't blame them for that. My cell phone is on and ringing 24 hours a day and I don’t mind that at all. I take special care in matching personnel to my clients’ specific needs. The clients in the Hamptons demand the highest level of service, which is why all of our security agents are hand-selected and put through a rigorous vetting process. SLM: Do you get to see a lot of A-listers? Anyone in particular that really excited you to see in person? DW: My idea of an A-lister and your idea of an A-lister might be somewhat different. I have been kind of desensitized to current celebrities as they are a part of every day life in the Hamptons. However, my heart did pang when I met my schoolgirl crush Luke Perry. I hope I kept somewhat of a pro- fessional composure although I cannot be sure. SLM: Is it rewarding working with your husband? DW: Well...I wouldn't suggest it for everyone but for us, it works. It is a perfect balance; he brings the law enforcement expertise while I make sure all of the clients needs are met. Due to high client demand, the company is expanding its services into the NYC, Florida and California markets to ac- commodate these location requests.
