SEPT 13 - OCT 29 2021 AuStRaLiAn JuNiOr OnLiNe SuRf ChAmPiOnShIpS WELCOME TO THE AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR ONLINE SURF CHAMPIONSHIPS. The YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships is an invitation only event for successful State title competitors Australia wide. This event will host 180 of Australia’s top juniors in a head to head online surfing competition. There is individual success up for grabs, an overall champion state will be crowned and a major counting result towards the Surfing Australia National Junior Rankings. Round 1 DURATION = 21 days Final DURATION = 21 days ROUND 1 Round 1 is a round of 30 males and a rd of 30 females across all divisions. Round 1 commences on Monday Sept 13 at 10am and runs until Sunday Oct 3 at midnight. ROUND 1 JUDGING Round 1 judging will take place Monday Oct 4 - Tuesday Oct 5 at 5pm. ROUND 1 COMPETITORS PROGRESSING TO THE FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT The top 15 males and 15 females across all divisions will be announced via press release on Tuesday Oct 5 at 5pm and posted to the www.australianjunioronlinesurfchampionships.com and www.surfingaustralia.com websites. FINAL The Final is a rd of 15 males and rd of 15 females across all divisions. The Final commences on Wednesday Oct 6 and runs until Tuesday Oct 26 at midnight. FINAL JUDGING Final judging will take place Wednesday Oct 27 - Thursday Oct 28. ALL WINNERS ANNOUNCED All winners will be announced via press release on Friday Oct 29 at 9am and posted to the www.australianjunioronlinesurfchampionships.com and www.surfingaustralia.com websites. WHO IS ALLOWED TO ENTER This event is BY INVITATION ONLY. Individuals who have qualified for the national titles through their respective State titles (allocations within the 2021 Surfing Australia rulebook) will be cordially invited by Surfing Australia and their State branch. All non-invited competitors’ clips will not be scored and will be removed from the competition platform. **ENTRY FEE IS $88 INCL GST AND ROUND ONE ENTRIES WILL BE CLOSED ON TUESDAY AUGUST 31, 2021 FOR VIC, WA, SA & TAS AND FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2021 FOR NSW AND QLD DUE TO THEIR RESPECTIVE STATE TITLE DATE BEING SHIFTED. EVENT RULES• A competitors entries can be filmed on any device that shoots video

• All video entries must be shot front on • Performance surfing only, each clip must be entered separately, no music, and regular motion (no slow motion)

• Please enter each wave from take off until wave is complete

• No Jet ski assist (paddle surfing only) • Swapping Entries: You may swap out a wave for a new wave by deleting an entry to repopulate with a new entry prior to deadline - All heat totals are out of 20

• Your 2 best waves must be 1 x right and 1 x left • Each athlete will need to enter under their own profile/login – as follows; Ben Smith NSW

• You must stick the specified colour sticker 25cm down from nose on the top and bottom of surfboard and back up surfboard. There are enough stickers in each colour for 2 x surfboards for the top and bottom of each board and 2 x spares for troubleshooting

• Age Eligibility - Competitors must be under the specified age as of 31st December in the year of competition (Example - Ben Smith NSW must be under the age of 18 as of Dec 31 to compete in the Under 18 division)

• Competitors can ONLY surf in 1 division as per State Title qualification

JUDGINGThe judging panel will consist of 3 x highly experienced judges following the International judging criteria.

The scoring scale will be set on the overall performance level of the competitors in each round and age division.

Competitors are to upload their two best waves (1 x right & 1 x left) for each round for the judges to evaluate.

The judging panel will be focusing on 3 key elements;

PROGRESSION & INNOVATION

The primary focus for the Judges will be progressive and innovative manoeuvres on each wave that is submitted.

POWER

The Secondary focal point that the judges will be looking for are visual signs that display power (Rail, Spray, & Speed) on each wave that is submitted.

PRECISION

The Final focal point that the judges will be looking for are timing and precision in the critical sections on each wave that is submitted.

EVENT STICKER SYSTEM

Surfing Australia will send each competitor 18 unique board stickers in 3 different colours on confirmation of entry.

The colour of the round sticker which must be applied to all competitors surfboards will be announced in a press release and uploaded to www.australianjunioronlinesurfchampionships.com and www.surfingaustralia.com websites at 5pm on the evening prior to the start of competition.

Competitors must stick the specified colour round sticker 25cm down from the nose on the top and bottom of each applicable surfboard. Sticker placement is shown on the diagram to the right. Each competitor’s event sticker allocation consists of 6 x stickers in each colour which is enough for 2 x boards and 2 x spare stickers for troubleshooting. (See sticker guideline diagram).

STICKER APPLICATION

Please prepare your surfboard surface thoroughly before applying round stickers to avoid peeling/sticker loss. If all stickers are exhausted please contact [email protected] for an emergency sticker allocation. Extra stickers will incur a $15 fee which includes – express postage to specified address, requested sticker colour x 2 and admin fee.

SURFING AUSTRALIA HIGH PERFORMANCE CENTRE COMPETITOR OFFERINGSurfing Australia recognises the workload on parents, coaches and filmers alike to capture the best possible wave clips for competitors. In 2021, Round 1 of competition runs during the September/October school holidays and the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) will be running dedicated 5 day filming camps during this period to cater for competitors who do not have available filming resources in Round 1.The HPC team will put you on the best waves on offer from the Gold Coast and Northern NSW and capture each competitor’s wave clips and provide to competitors post camp.If you’re travelling from down the coast or interstate, there are accommodation and meals packages also available. Contact the HPC team on [email protected] and if you would like to reserve a spot on one of these camps. Prices start from $699 for the 5 day camp.

COMPETITOR FILMING TIPSIt is recommended that competitors, parents, coaches and filmers alike manage their filming schedule. It is recommended to choose the best conditions to film by paying close attention to their chosen surf forecasting website. The event windows have been expanded to 2 x 3 week rounds to give competitors ample time to choose the best conditions to film and submit two wave submissions (1 x right, 1 x left). After each round of judging, all heat totals out of 20 will be shown in order of highest total to lowest on the event leader board which can be found on the event website at www.australianjunioronlinesurfchampionships.com. Once results are published a secondary announcement of results will be sent via press release and uploaded to the event website news at www.australianjunioronlinesurfchampionships.com and the Surfing Australia website news at www.surfingaustralia.com at 5pm the evening prior to the start of the next rounds competition. Competitors are encouraged to pay attention to the Surfing Australia Instagram page and the hashtag #yetijnrs for updates.

SOCIAL MEDIAThe YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships will be posting regularly throughout each round via the Surfing Australia Instagram and Facebook social pages. Competitors are encouraged to follow and post to the Instagram hashtag #yetijnrs so each competitors journey can be followed throughout the event as well as be made aware of event updates.

WHAT’S UP FOR GRABSMAJOR RANKINGS POINTSThe YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships boasts a major counting result towards the Surfing Australia National Junior Rankings.MAJOR PRIZE6 x division winners of the YETI Australian Junior Online Surf Championships will receive a YETI Crossroads luggage kit (Valued at over $500 each prize) shipped direct from YETI to the winner on completion of the event.SPECIALITY AWARDS Award - YETI 10 Point Ride Award Criteria - YETI will be awarding all 10 point rides with a YETI Drinkware Prize Pack. Prize - 4 x 10oz Tumblers (4 colourways) shipped direct from YETI to the winner on completion of the event. Award - YETI Finalist Prize (All finalists) Criteria - YETI will be awarding all finalists (90 in total) with a YETI Drinkware Prize which will shipped direct from YETI to the Finalists on completion of the event. CHAMPION STATE Criteria - The Champion State will be crowned using an aggregate calculator. Each competitors final placing will be awarded points respective to their overall result and each States accumulative points total will be divided by the team size to establish the Champion State.
