SENZANI TODAY 2013 was a very important and fulfilling year for Senzani, the company actually celebrated their 60th anniversary with a series of events for employees, collabora- tors, financial partners and international distributors: the institutional communi- cation activities were very much appre- ciated by the attendees and the profes- sional operators. Now that the celebrations are concluded, it is time to glance at the future, keeping the balance between tradition and in- novation, a feature that has always been distinguishing Senzani over the time; the decades in the business, studded with achievements but also with challenges, show clear evidence of a solid, self-aware company, capable of confronting the ex- pectations of the global market. It is with this goal that Senzani is attend- ing the next edition of Interpack, the main international trade fair for the packaging and processing industries, held in Ger- many in the month of May. According to the 2013 pre-final figures of the Ucima Study Centre with reference to the Italian packaging machineries manu- facturers, export represents 83.6% of the total sales (+8.6% vs 2012), therefore Senzani cannot miss this appointment to consoli- date the position gained on an international extent. The last orders received, together with those fulfilled in the past years, validate the quality of our products and the ability to provide customized and tailored solutions, two aspects which are more and more esteemed and taken into account on a global level; in 2014, many multinational companies leaders in different manufacturing industries, keep commissioning additional machineries to Senzani, as a confirmation of their high level of satisfaction. Our commitment is to continue to pursue innovation and try and analyse the market to anticipate and meet the Customers’ needs, in order to provide answers and quality so- lutions. 2013 was a very important and fulfilling year for Senzani, the company actually celebrated their 60th anniversary with a series of events for employees, collabora-tors, financial partners and international distributors: the institutional communi-cation activities were very much appre-ciated by the attendees and the profes-sional operators.

Now that the celebrations are concluded, it is time to glance at the future, keeping the balance between tradition and in-novation, a feature that has always been distinguishing Senzani over the time; the decades in the business, studded with achievements but also with challenges, show clear evidence of a solid, self-aware company, capable of confronting the ex-pectations of the global market.

It is with this goal that Senzani is attend-ing the next edition of Interpack, the main international trade fair for the packaging and processing industries, held in Ger-many in the month of May.

According to the 2013 pre-final figures of the Ucima Study Centre with reference to the Italian packaging machineries manu-facturers, export represents 83.6% of the total sales (+8.6% vs 2012), therefore Senzani cannot miss this appointment to consoli-date the position gained on an international extent.

Our commitment is to continue to pursue innovation and try and analyse the market to anticipate and meet the Customers’ needs, in order to provide answers and quality so-lutions. This has been our mission for 60 years and will be for many years in the future.

Interpack Protagonists:Wrap Around and Form and Fill, the new di.Pa. line

The new flagship Di.Pa. (Display and Tray Packers) line on display at In-terpack, the international trade fair for processes and packaging, which will be held in Duesseldorf, Germany, next May 8-14. The Company is attending the show with its own corporate exhibiting space (Hall 14, Stand 14C30), with special focus given to two carton/tray packers (DP60 and TP40), to show the attendees and the industry professionals the level of innovation achieved and the ability to manage both existing technologies, in terms of display-packaging machineries. In fact, DP60 is a wrap-around (where the display is modelled around the product), while TP40 is based on the

form-and-fill technology, where the display is pre-shaped to be filled with product. Senzani is now able to of-fer a choice between these options, based on the product to be processed, therefore guaranteeing complete ad-herence to the Customers’ require-ments.The two machines also feature a high processing speed and a minimal footprint, ensuring consistent space-saving which also stands for lower overhead costs. Moreover, they offer great versatility, as several kinds of packaging of different sizes may be processed: cartons, trays/displays (both machines) and sleeves (DP60). This makes the machines suitable to be employed in various industry sec-

Over 2014, Senzani is in the process of further consolidating their leadership in the coffee sector, a business they have been involved for some time: the Faenza-based company is in fact being renowned all over the world for their secondary packaging solutions, from the vertical cartoning machines (Ve.Ca.) to the wrap-around tray packers (Di.Pa.). The last job order received, relates to two machines manufactured for a big multinational company. In particu-lar, Senzani’s flagship technology is dedicated to an innovative coffee cap-sules’ system, successfully distributed worldwide. A project which Senzani has been cooperating on since 2007, and today has been enriched with an additional order. The two recently released CMX8 ma-chines represent an absolute novelty in Senzani’s production; specifically custom designed based on line re-quirements, constitute a further de-velopment in the vertical cartoner (Ve.Ca.) sector for coffee capsules pack-aging. Compared to the previous CMX6 machines, the CMX8 version offers increased performances and preci-sion, with regards to product handling; reaching speeds of 150 cartons per minute, thus responding to the need

for higher productivity. At the same time, the CMX8 guaran-tees the highest quality of product out-put, thanks to two innovative check mechanisms. On the one hand, it en-sures maximum precision in terms of carton filling, thanks to an inter-nal closed-loop check system which checks the quantity of capsules ac-tually inserted, regardless of their weight. On the other hand, the clos-ing and alignment of the carton upper flaps are carefully checked through a small internal video camera. The CMX8 also features a flap closing device for machine stops, which allows the sealing of processed cartons even for “inline stop” condition, so that no cartons are rejected. This is possible thanks to the implementation of spe-cial solutions in the closing system of the upper and lower flaps, which are operated in case of a sudden stop of the downstream line. Finally, the CMX8 was designed ac-cording to the Clean Design concept, proving to be a machine suitable for food environments with high hygiene standards. This aspect does not affect the versatility of the machine, in terms of cartons size and type of filling, a feature which makes it suitable for use also in other environments.

tors, ranging from food to tobacco, to hygiene products, as proved by the first orders received for these lines and developed during the past year.DP 60 has already been delivered to some important companies such as the Serbian Carnex, operating in the food industry in Eastern Europe; Melit-ta USA, a branch office of the German group specialized in the production of coffee in any forms (loose, pods, cap-sules), for which the cartoner/tray packer has been integrated with a Ver-tical Carton Pallet managing the next steps up to pallettizing.TP40, on the other hand, can count among its first customers companies such as McBride, one of the main European producers of personal and household hygiene products and Heinz, the American multinational agro-food company which commissioned a doy-pack filling system for display boxes, for its Venezuelan plant. Upon specific request, the machine has been inte-grated with a Senzani end-line system for wrap-around case-packing, so as to cover the entire process.

INNovAtIoN ANd RElIAbIlIty At tHE HEARt oF SENZANI’S CoMMUNICAtIoNOver the past year Senzani gave start to several communication events and the company is now determined to proceed on this successful path, awarded with the Mediastars Special Star prize, the technical advertising recognition for the corporate communication plan realized for the company’s 60th anniversary. The new company logo, the promotional material, the special design conveyed for the “open house” events at the headquarters, were all developed under a coordinated image, over the course of 2013, mixing tradition, innovation and technology, in the perfect “Senzani style”. This project, performed with the partner communication agency Integra Solutions, also included the realisation of an institutional video, illustrating the history and the company values.

Senzani is now treasuring this experience and as a matter of fact the company logo still bears evidence of the 60 years of business. Similarly, the communica-tion activities continue with a great deal of new proposals and multimedia tools. First of all, a new video, recently shot and focused on the excellence of the Sen-zani technologies, in order to make the audience aware of them. The spotlight is centred on innovation over the time, the extreme reliability and solidity of the company on the one hand and the future-oriented character on the other, aimed at the satisfaction of the Customers’ needs and requirements.

The video, which will be launched at Interpack, is part of a project representing the totality of Senzani product categories and constitutes – together with additional future events –the very core of the corporate communication campaign for 2014.

CoNqUERINg INtERNAtIoNAl MARkEtS WItH gUAlAPACk The cooperation between Senzani Brevetti and Gualapack keeps consolidating. The company from Piedmont region, Italy, is a global leader in premade flexible packag-ing systems with caps (“Cheerpack”) and in addition to a number of international branches, it also boasts in having a vast, and capillary international commercial network.Gualapack mainly operates in the food&beverage sector, providing a highly appeal-ing product, especially in a moment when portability and single dose packaging represent the key-concepts of the market; above all, they offer their Customers an interesting solution to purchase, a complete package including pouches and the filling machines. The partnership with Senzani, which already started over the last decade, is being enriched by adding secondary packaging machinery to the “kit” which are manu-factured in Faenza; thus giving birth to complete integrated systems. To be spe-cific, Senzani make available their models of display and tray packers (Di.Pa.) and case packers in American cases (Ca.Pa.), to handle the packages arriving for the Gualapack machines. The long-term cooperation and experience leads the two engineering departments to communicate constantly, and productively enables them to design the link-up and interface of the machines beforehand, guaranteeing efficiently integrated systems right from the start. Over the years, a few multinational companies and important baby food enterprises (fruit juices, etc.) like Heinz Venezuela, the French Soufflet Alimentaire and the Russian Multon and Progress the latter new entry in the shared portfolio, all believed and trusted in this type of synergy. This stands as confirmation of the validity to the integrated offer and the coopera-tion between the two companies, a precious tool to enter new markets, and which Senzani hopes will become even stronger in the future.
