Sensory Integration TherapySensory Integration Theory explains

why some people have diculties

using information from their senses

and how this impacts on day-to-

day activities. Developed by the

pioneering occupational therapist and

researcher Dr. Jean Ayres, Sensory

Integration (SI) theory and practice

draw on research about how the brain

works and how new pathways can be

developed and strengthened through

provision and repetition of meaningful

sensory experiences. Delivered

only by trained practitioners, Ayres'

Sensory Integration (ASI) therapy® is a

therapeutic approach which includes a

comprehensive assessment of sensory

integration diculties and individually

planned interventions for babies,

children, adolescents and adults.

Is the Sensory Integration Practitioner Pathway for you?As an occupational therapist, physiotherapist

or speech and language therapist, if you are

interested in:

• Transforming your care delivery through a

greater understanding of sensory processing

diculties

• Gaining university-accredited postgraduate

qualications to enhance your career and

practice

• Learning from inspirational lecturers and

highly-experienced clinicians

• Being able to change the lives of your patients

through assessing sensory based diculties

and creating interventions that really work

• Being condent in your understanding of

the neuroscience and research underpinning

sensory integration therapy

and if this sounds like the clinical practice you

want to create, then our unique, gold-standard

modular pathway to sensory integration (SI)

practice may be the challenge you are looking for.

Every SI Module is accredited by the UK’s world-

class Ulster University, with staged milestones

leading to awards of:

• Postgraduate Certicate in Sensory Integration

• Sensory Integration Practitioner status

• Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner status

• Postgraduate Diploma in Sensory Integration

• MSc Degree in Sensory Integration

You can be assured of the quality and relevance

of our courses, designed for international

clinicians working in a wide variety of healthcare

settings. As a member of ICE-ASI, the Sensory

Integration Education SI Modules already exceed

the forthcoming international standards for SI

practitioners. We’ve been training practitioners,

sharing best practice and supporting research

into SI therapy for 25 years. Ours was the rst

postgraduate SI course in the world to be

accredited by a university and we remain the

only UK course to be so.

Our fully supported and interactive online

modules mean that you can study from

anywhere in the world, in your own time,

at your own pace and save on travel, hotel

accommodation, childcare and time away from

work. You can even allow for career breaks.

formed of seven modules: each with their own

aims, outcomes and assessments.

As you progress through each module, you

will develop a detailed understanding of the

neuroscience and evidence base underpinning

sensory integration, as well as developing

expertise in assessing and providing

intervention for people with sensory integration

problems.

SI Module 1: Foundations and Neuroscience

SI Module 2: Clinical Reasoning in Sensory

Integration: Assessment

SI Module 3: Clinical Reasoning and Practice in Sensory Integration:

Intervention

SI Module 4: Advanced Practice

SI Module 5: Research Evidence in Health

Science

SI Module 6: Research Project Preparation

SI Module 7: Research Project

See our website for a full description of each

module’s content, aims and outcomes, duration

and support from e-mentors plus the contact

hours and independent study hours expected.

You’ll gain access to:

The Practitioner Pathway

SI Module 1: Foundations and Neuroscience

SI Module 3: Clinical Reasoning and Practice in SI: Intervention

SI Module 2: Clinical Reasoning in Sensory Integration: Assessment

You can now identify and understand behaviours and challenges with sensory underpinnings, and advise around the impact on the person’s participation in life.

You can now assess under supervision and give a clear rationale for a specic pattern of sensory processing and integration diculty. You have a clear understanding of which aspects of sensory processing and integration could be addressed in therapy.

Congratulations! You are now a qualied Sensory Integration Practitioner with a PG Cert in Sensory Integration. You can now provide SI interventions to people in a range of dierent settings and across the lifespan.

Postgraduate Certicate in Sensory Integration awarded

SI Module 4: Advanced Practice

SI Module 5: Research Evidence in Health Science

Congratulations! You are now a qualied Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner. You have developed in-depth knowledge and experience in SI and therapy, with a specialist knowledge of supporting a specic clinical population.

You understand a range of research methodologies commonly used within healthcare, and can apply this knowledge to critically appraise literature in order to inform and advance the quality of your care and service delivery.

SI Module 6: Research Project

Preparation

Congratulations! You have a PG Dip in Sensory Integration. You now have the research design skills necessary to produce a working research proposal for your Master’s project.
